What’s Up Wednesday (Sept) + TBB Linkup

Today I’m linking up with ShayMel & Sheaffer for this months What’s Up Wednesday!  The questions are in pink so check it out and join the fun.  Also joining Jessi and Jenn for What’s Hap- “Pinning” Wednesday.  Plus, be sure to link up your favorite look with The Blended Blog!

What We’re Eating this Week

On Sunday Keith grilled up some tenderloins, baked potatoes and bacon wrapped shrimp and we made enough to stretch through Monday.  I made a pot roast in the instant pot on Tuesday and you can see the recipe over at The Blended Blog for Tasty Tuesday!  It was delicious!  Due to the current state of our house, I’m going to have to think that will be our last meal at home until the painting is complete.

What I’m Reminiscing About

This sweet angel girl!  Carly Jo turned 12 last Friday and it has been so fun seeing pictures from years past pop up!

What I’m Loving

For the past year I pretty much have set red wine aside as every single time I ended up feeling like I was having a sinus attack.  One night I was out with a girlfriend and she suggested this wine and not only does it taste amazing, no sinus issue the day after!

What We’ve Been Up To

I’ve had some sweet time with my kids this month!

The boys and I went to a Cody Johnson concert at an outdoor venue and it was so much fun!  I always forget how much I love live music until I’m there.

This precious girl and I had our monthly dinner last Wednesday and she inspired me to write a bit about the adventures of parenting with 3 bullet proof tips!

I snuck off for a girls weekend with this girl and her bestie at a resort in The Woodlands and I can’t wait to share all the details soon.

What I’m Dreading

You’re feeling better about your life right now aren’t you?!!  This is the current state of my bedroom, garage and guest bedroom.  I’m really dreading putting all of this stuff back where it belongs but also how long it might be before I’m able to!

What I’m Working On

Some updates around the house!  Yesterday painters started the process of painting my kitchen, living and “front room” from the beigy tan which has served us well to Revere Pewter.  I have muddled through and painted here and there over the past 13 years of living here but, y’all, it was just all too much for me to do well.  The woodwork and ceilings all needed to be updated and there are just not enough hours.  We’ve been saving up for a long time and I’m excited to have some updates.

What I’m Excited About

My biggest challenge is pulling a room together.  I can totally tell you once it is all done if I like it or not but I have absolutely zero vision.  We found a couch we love and I’m still using my grandmothers chairs but they needed some updating so they are off to be reupolstered.  A rug, fun new ottoman and some curtains will hopefully have this space feeling a little more cozy.  The girls I’m working with have set a date for early October to install everything and I’m crossing my fingers when it is all done we have created the space I was hoping for!

What I’m Watching/Reading

My friend Katy told me long ago to watch Jane the Virgin but I just didn’t even think I’d like it (I know right?) but when my sister-in-law also started raving about it I decided on a recent sick day to see what it was all about!  Y’all, totally committed!  She is just so stinkin’ cute and I’m dying to find out what happens!

I was able to finish up 3 books in August and another 3 in September (so proud) and I’ll have my full September review up and ready tomorrow.  Let me just say if you are into love stories with lots of twists you might want to check out Kerry Lonsdale.

What I’m Listening To

Did you know Jen Hatmaker has a podcast?  Well, I didn’t either!  I’ve loved listening to her interviews with interesting people like Brene’ Brown, Annie Downs and Ruth Wariner.

And surprisingly, I’ve been asking Alexa to play me some jazz while I cook dinner and there has just been something really soothing about the music with zero words.  Seriously this is a first for me so there is hope for everyone!  We had the Amazon Tap for months before I realized I could use blue tooth to actually just say commands versus tapping and it has been a game changer.

What I’m Wearing

Dress | Booties

I know, I know, me and every other blogger out there right?  Really, we are not kidding this dress is fabulous! I intend a full post with some styling options for fall but it is selling out quick so I wanted you to at least see it on.  I am 5’7″ and it is still an appropriate length for me even though it appears super short on the model.  And, y’all, this baby had been folded up in my bag from the weekend before I pulled it out to take this picture.  It has one wrinkle but other than that it traveled perfectly!  So far I have grabbed the black and this wine color but really wish I had snagged the navy too.

Plaid Popover | Shorts | Slip On Shoes | Bag (similar) | Renegade Cluster | Ray Bans | Earrings

This plaid popover was part of my fall transitional picks and I’m so glad I decided to grab it. The colors will work great for fall or spring and it is lightweight enough to wear now but also layer under my fave field jacket when it gets cooler.  I also picked up these slip on sneakers from Target and so far I am loving them!  Am I the only one who has to wear socks with these type shoes to keep from getting blisters though?

How have I been dressing up for fall but still managing to work with the 90 degree days and high humidity?  Just add booties!  My love for these Pleione tops is no secret and on a day when I’m just not feeling it a great pair of black jeans is dressy enough to look pulled together in the office.  Yes, still carrying the black & white tote until I narrow down a bag I love as much!  Considering the ever popular Barrington bag in the axis deer print.

What I’m Doing this Weekend

I’m heading for a little tailgating and some time at Kyle Field!  My brother is bringing his kids and I’m looking forward to attending our first game of the season!

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

Riley was invited to play in the fall league in Arizona and I couldn’t miss the chance to use baseball as an excuse for a vacation watch him pitch!  I’ve booked Sanctuary Camelback in Scottsdale and I’m working on our itinerary for the 5 days we are there!  Hoping for a day trip to the Grand Canyon or to Horseshoe Bend in Paige Arizona and really wanting to take a hot air balloon ride.  Other than that I am looking forward to some hiking and relaxing!  Oh…and some baseball!  Do you have some must dos in the Phoenix area?

Bonus: What TV Show Are You Most Excited About This Fall

Hands down, This is Us!  I was sick to my stomach this past week when I realized the last two episodes from last season I was saving up to watch in September had been erased from my DVR….oh the misery!  But quickly found a place to watch them!
