College Station’s first RESTAURANT WEEK is still g

College Station’s first RESTAURANT WEEK is still going strong and we made a stop at the Texas A&M university hotel to try the lunch menu. We couldn’t resist trying the burger which they make with Texas beef and it was delicious. Especially if you are already on campus, this is a great chance to try a new lunch spot! Plus, the gift shop is loaded with Aggie gear.

Restaurant week ends Sunday August 30th so don’t miss the chance to dine at one of the locations below. Eat an amazing meal from a fixed menu full of the best dishes and know that 10% the bill (excluding alcohol) will be donated to the Brazos Valley Foodbank!

Restaurant week is here and we chose @de_baca_steakhouse for date night! The food was delicious and the service on point.

It’s too hot to cook so make your plans now to visit one of the restaurants listed below between now and August 30th. The prix fixe menus make it easy and 10% of the proceeds (excluding alcohol) will be donated to the Brazos Valley Foodbank. Good food + giving back is a winning combo!

We spent 4 nights in Gettysburg and while Keith attended a leadership program, I spent my days soaking up some American history. I highly recommend a private battleground tour and I loved the extra stories I learned along the way but I also found a free auto tour on the national parks service app and I drove through a second time listening to the story again. There are so many monuments in the park it would be hard to stop for each one but I did make a special stop for Texas. I loved all the old farm houses and walked across the covered bridge used by both sides to cross the creek in 1863. It was also interesting each day to compare stories with Keith and hear how the guide tied leadership, communication and decision making into the program. If you ever go, don’t miss a stop at the visitor center to view the 360 Cyclorama painting.

I tagged along for Keith’s business trip and we made a side stop in DC. Neither of us had any ever been and it was a great opportunity to see our nations capital.

A little bummed that it was not in tip top shape 🙃and really sad that there is so much fencing up that the White House was barely visible but we still felt like it was worth the check mark on our bucket list

We stayed at @riggshotel and it was a perfect location downtown near restaurants and situated a walkable distance from the sites we wanted to see. It is a historic building with lovely decor, champagne at check in and the nicest staff

The capital was probably my favorite to visit. We had such a great tour guide!

We were sweating our Texas tails off 😥it was so hot.

The rotunda was amazing

We didn’t make a stop here but I rarely see my name spelled correctly so of course a pic was warranted

I took zero pics of our food but we enjoyed Old Ebbitts Grill, the Smith and Filomena’s so much!

We visited the national archives and the museum of natural history

Arlington Cemetary and the tomb of the unknown soldier along with the changing of the guard was especially moving.

For her 6th birthday we talked about an adventure

For her 6th birthday we talked about an adventure to the American Girl store before I realized there was no longer a store in Houston 🤦‍♀️ so we finally found a weekend we could make the trip to Dallas to shop and she was insistent we had to spend the night in a hotel so who was I to say no! The Dallas Aquarium was our last stop before heading home and it is just so well done.

Being a grandparent is truly just the best and I couldn’t love this kid more 💕
