Creating our annual Christmas card is one of my favorite things to do each year even if finding a time to get my crew together some years is tougher than others. In the even years I typically hire a professional photographer to take our pictures and the odd years I handle the photos. This year it was all me and thankfully a sweet friend pushed the button on the camera and all I had to do was set up the shots. Today I’m sharing the final photo I used as well as all the out takes of our photo session which often are some of my favorites.
I feel like this was the first year there was no over thinking on our wardrobe. I grabbed Carly’s top at Old Navy that day and basically told everyone else to just wear something they felt good in and I love that we all blended without looking too matchy. We really wanted Dutch in our pictures this year and he was seriously camera shy but thankfully he was the only one!
Last year I shared tips to successful family photos. I feel so lucky my family knows how special capturing an annual picture and even though they do give me a slight bit of grief, they will definitely rally and get it done with smiles on their faces. One of the main reasons I love this annual photo is to just see how much they have all changed. This year Carly Jo and Dillon both started wearing contacts and seeing them without the glasses on their faces made such a change.
I’m breaking my usual rule and sharing this before all my cards are mailed in order to join Sarah and Victoria for The Most Wonderful Time fo the Year linkup. This is the last week and you can join by sharing your card today, your Christmas decor tomorrow and stop back by here on Wednesday when I will be co-hosting and sharing a holiday recipe!
Are Christmas cards a favorite for you this time of year? I seriously hustle to the mailbox every day to see what has arrived!
