What’s Up Wednesday – September 2023

What’s up Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with ShaySheaffer.  I’m also linking up with Amy for Style on the Go! You can find the questions in blue so check it out and join the fun.

Let’s go…..

What We’re Eating

Ok….I finally tried the burger taco and then ended up eating one four days in a row! When I shared this on Instagram, the biggest question I got was whether the tortilla was soggy. I don’t claim to know how this magic works, but I really think the grease ends up somewhat frying the tortilla and it is perfectly crunchy goodness. I made some easy burger sauce to go with mine along with some pickles.

I’m trying this bacon wrapped tenderloin recipe from The Anthony Kitchen who is a local blogger and hope it becomes a new favorite!

What I’m Loving

I’ve been needing to pop over to Ulta to grab some mascara and ended up with two other items. The last time I grabbed mascara I purchased the Bad Girl Bang and have loved it. I’ve had a little transferring when it’s new but have been trying out some translucent powder to try and alleviate that. Concealer is always something I struggle with. It’s either too thick and gets stuck in my crepey under eye or is too think to actually provide any coverage for my dark spots. I was using this color corrector which worked so well but just too thick. My typical concealer is by lancome and I love it but it just doesn’t always cover well. I grabbed this by TULA and so far I’m LOVING it!! While I was there I went ahead and picked up the NYX eyeliner I’ve loved in the past.

What We’ve Been Up To

We took a day over Labor day weekend and took our favorite little girl on her first boat ride with Honey and Poppa K. We just love her so much!

We took a whirlwind trip to Memphis with our besties to watch our sweet Holden run home on bid day! It has been so exciting to see her find her place and it makes me so excited for next year.

But…in the meantime I’m soaking up EVERY single moment of this girls senior year! We only have 4 home games this year which means only 4 pep rallies. They always do their DCC (Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader) style dance for the first pep rally and it’s obvious every year that it’s my girls favorite. I just love seeing how much she puts into it.

I know what you’re thinking….we look alot alike. LOL…we hear that alot!

And as much as I love hearing it, I do think she has her Daddy’s eyes. We celebrated her at the first home game for senior night. We just love this little baby of ours!

And Haisley’s mom created this mock Strutter outfit for her that was just the cutest darn thing. Carly had to get a new hat this year so when we had an extra we knew she needed to dress up.

And this girl turned 18!! I’m officially not responsible for anyone anymore although I will still be financially responsible for this one for awhile. Ha! She is so lucky to have a bestie who is also a photographer and they got some great shots over the summer. I sure am sad we don’t wear the same size because I’m in LOVE with these boots!!

What I’m Working On

This bathroom has had a partial reno but it’s time to finish it out. I think I’ve finally found my tile and picked out a new freestanding bathtub. Now to decide on the cabinet color…maybe I will have an insta-story poll soon. Can’t decide if I want to stay white or go with a color.

What I’m Listening To

Whether you love her not, Taylor Swift is a genius business woman and an amazing artist. I’ve been listening to her “from the vault” playlist on spotify for the last month or so and all I can say is wow. Not only has she had enough songs for all her albums already, but she had even more in the vault to add to those albums when they were re-released. I had no idea that some of my fave songs by other singers were actually written by her. I’m a big fan but mainly because she and my oldest are the same age and I feel like they have grown up together.

What I’m Watching/Reading

I wrapped up my September book review yesterday and currently I’m enjoying The Pact.

What I’m Wearing

I grabbed this cute dress from the Shop Avara gameday collection to wear for senior night and another mom had the same great taste! It is pricier than I normally would choose but it is adorable, quality fabric that did not wrinkle and long enough for both of us tall girls. It comes in lots of gameday colors and is perfect especially if you are still in hells attic with me!

I’m still on the fence with this vest….I love it but am in between sizes. The medium is a little too snug and the large is a little too loose in the shoulders. I grabbed this pattern and a black pin stripe so debating that as well. Debating whether it’s worth the alteration. I am wearing my favorite dress pants….you can find dress pants and jackets on sale right now.

I traded my lunch hour for a little shopping trip to a local boutique and picked up two new dresses. The little black dress above is precious. It looks like denim but is super lightweight. The dress below has been perfect for work and for Aggieland! I shared a reel with both on Instagram and was shocked to see they are both sold out….secretly hoping I influenced that! Anyway, the brand is Entro and they always fit true to size and are a good price point and Sabi boutique does have an online shop with lots of cute options here. This is totally unsponsored by the way!

These shoes, however, are still stocked in a few sizes and they have been my go to since the day they arrived. They are so comfotable and come in this shade and a camel color. While they are from Stitch Fix, they can be ordered without a box through the freestyle program.

What I’m Doing this Weekend

Friday night lights! It’s Homecoming weekend and I’m a tad bit sad that my senior decided she didn’t really want to get dressed up and go to the dance but I’ll get over it.

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

It’s BIRTHDAY month! Not only will I be turning 54, but Jordan, Riley and Keith will also have birthdays. It’s always my favorite.

Bonus Question: What Amazon Purchase Did I Love This Month

Dnn’t judge me too harshly, but with all but one adult children living back at home, it’s been a bit of an adjustment. I bought these fingers to leave out when I see things I don’t like. Unfortunately they all think it’s hilarious and last week I got in the shower to find one by my shampoo! Little stinkers.

That’s alot of what’s up with me…what’s up with you?
