The Queen’s Chronicles – Week 20

·

Week 20 proved to be a lot busier than I expected.  We had lots of rain that cancelled some activities but as quick as they were cancelled I had them filled with something else.  Why do I do that?

Day #131

My mini was super proud of the outfit she put together on her own Monday morning.  Striped shirt, patterned shorts, floral shoes…..I think she has the pattern mixing down.
Football was cancelled which meant we had a free sitter for long enough to sneak away for dinner and grocery shopping ALONE.
And we had sushi which I have been craving like crazy!

Day #132

This boy was on top of the world after a friend gave him a Brandon Finnegan rookie card.  Brandon played with Riley in 2012 and 2013 and we are all just so proud of how he has done since being drafted by Kansas City last June.

Day #133

I had to leave work early to take this one for his school physical and after we had enough time for a much needed haircut! Wow…I swear I have a picture of Keith at this age and the similarities are crazy.  I don’t really see that he looks so much like Keith if you just pick his features apart but man oh man when you add in his expressions and mannerisms it’s uncanny how much they are alike.

Day #134

One of those days when I’m proud of my housekeeping skills!  I was cleaning out a drawer in the fridge and found these.  I did not even know a carrot could do that!!!
And to make me feel even more awesome about how well I can run a household, I destroyed this toilet paper roll trying to get it started.  What is up with the damn glue these days???  I mean every single roll has been a challenge to get started.

Day #135

Friday morning started at the Women’s Health, Wealth & Wisdom workshop.  I was excited to hang with my friend HollyKaty & Cindy and to meet some new ladies as well.
And the keynote speaker was the one and only Melanie Shankle y’all!  She is just as adorable and genuine in person!  I don’t know what I expected but her east Texas accent is just perfect too.  Such a fun time.
Thank goodness for Instagram or I could have skipped right over National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!  I whipped up a batch of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and they were just as good as I remember.  I have a recipe I tore from a magazine in 1995 and I use to make them all the time but it has been years.  I never understood how people could get such perfect looking cookies but once I learned about parchment paper my cookies have been so much prettier.
And I only have so much willpower so I invited my bestie and her family over for cookies and milk.  I love that she knows showing up at my house in pjs on a Friday night is perfectly acceptable.   Bonus we were able to watch the TCU vs OU game and see my Riley come in to close the 2nd day in a row.

Day #136

Dillon’s baseball was cancelled for Saturday so there was a lot of this to star the day.
Of course Dutch Buddy wasn’t going to miss out on any snuggles.
And then I used a gift certificate my sweet friend Ginny sent me way back in October for my birthday and got a facial.  It was such a special treat and I just couldn’t bare to cover my face with makeup the rest of the day my skin just felt so good.  I also splurged on a peach green tea lemonade from Starbucks.  I’m not a huge Starbucks coffee person because, well, I really like coffee to be black.  The tea though…love it.

Day #137

On Sunday, Carly & I took a road trip to Wharton for the day to attend this boys 4th birthday party!  I’m a little biased but I think he is adorable.
How you know you are probably too old to enjoy the Moonwalks & Bouncehouse birthday party?  I came away with burns on my knee and elbow and hours later as I was prancing around the senior living center I realized I also burned right through my favorite shorts.  Tore that lace in two!  Thankfully the seniors where my Mamaw live didn’t even notice and one lady even passed by me, swatted me on the behind and said “sweetie those are some nice looking thighs”.  I’ll take the compliments where I can get them…haha.
No visit to see my Mamaw would be complete without a trip to Palais Royal for some shopping.  This girl loves to shop and is always complaining that she has NOTHING to wear.  Then she will complain there is too much stuff in her closet and she can’t find anything.  Hot mess I tell ya.
Carly and my niece convinced Nana to take them for Dairy Queen and I figure when in Rome…..even though we have a DQ in College Station it never crosses my mind to go there unless I’m in a small town!
On the way back to College Station, Carly and I stopped at the J. Crew Factory store to make some returns and we tried on a few things.  I was really sad because I wanted this romper to work so bad but I am just a really weird fit for most of them.  Carly however made it home with this one!
I will be traveling mid week with my mom, Carly, my brother and my older nephew to Tulsa, OK for the Big XII baseball tourney.  I would love some prayers sent our way for safe travel and prayers that I can get everything lined up at home so that my other boys don’t feel left out.
Hope you all have a super week!
