The Queen’s Chronicles – Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day looked a little different this year as the girls and I celebrated on Thanksgiving day in New York City after Carly participated in the Macys parade! It was so exciting and she was starved after an early morning and a two and half mile walk. We dined at the Smith Restaurant in midtown with a 3 course Thanksgiving feast that was amazing.

We chose eggplant burrata, gnocchi mac & cheese and butternut squash soup for our starters before digging into the braised short ribs for our main course. Stuffing, brussel sprouts and homemande cranberry sauce were the delcious sides. We were so stuffed but managed to eat some of the dessert ass well.

Sunday my family came to visit and I made dressing, scalloped potatoes and broccoli rice casserole along with pumpkin pie and my Meme’s fruit salad. We are not really turkey people so my brother brought barbecue from our favorite restaurant back home. It was delicious and we enjoyed eating and spending the afternoon together.

Before they left to head back home, we had a visiit with my mom. She was super excited to eat some pumpkin and pecan pie along with her friend Neva.

I’m so thankful for all of these people. Thankful for the resources to spend such an amazing trip with my girls and thankful for a safe place for my mom that allowed me to do so without any guilt or worry.

I hope you all had a sweet Thanskgiving weekend and are starting the week with full hearts as we head into what is often the busiest season of the year. My goal is to stay focused on the joy but to also feel the grief that sometimes comes from missing my dad and the mom I remember. Both my parents loved Christmas so much.
