The Queen’s Chronicles – Moving On Up!

· · ·

In lieu of Friday Favorites I’m opting for a little Queen’s Chronicles update as the past week as been quite exciting!  So read along for exciting news and pictures from our long weekend in Corpus Christi.

The Queen's Chronicles - The Queen in Between

If you saw my Royally Waiting post last week, you will remember me sharing a picture of Riley pitching in his assigned location of Buies Creek, North Carolina.  I was patiently waiting at the time for some good airfare so I could go see him in person.  Well, that very afternoon he face timed me to let me know he was coming to Texas!!  The Astros called him up to AA ball which is in Corpus Christi and we could not be more excited!

Dutch must have had a premonition when he picked out this new collar complete with a blue bowtie!  I just love this adorable guy.

Professional baseball is a wild ride y’all.  He found out Wednesday afternoon he was being reassigned and was on a flight to DFW on his way to Corpus bright and early Thursday morning.  He ran into his old teammates from TCU baseball at the airport on their way to West Virginia.  Riley is not a little guy y’all but I cracked up at how little he looks standing next to his friends!

By noon he was in Corpus and that evening he took the field of the home opener for the Corpus Christi Hooks and Momma was at home packing bags to prepare the family for a little road trip!

And as Jordan said as usual we showed up “Ferrell Strong” with the entire family!  We picked my mom up on the way, Jordan drove with her dad and my in-laws joined us as well.  This boy has plenty of support!

Perks of minor league ball is alcohol is allowed in the stadium! Baseball and beer just go together right?

As luck would have it he did come in to pitch an inning for the Friday night game!  All I could think about when I saw these uniforms was the Houston Oilers.  Quite a difference playing in a stadium with approximately 6,000 fans compared to where he was in NC with less than 500.   Much more exciting environment!

So typically if traveling to the coast, I would have chosen a house on the beach or the bay but on such short notice we opted for staying at the Omni downtown instead.  It was a nicely updated hotel on the boardwalk and within a short distance to the ballpark and lots of restaurants.   Our view was great too!

We grabbed breakfast at Andy’s Kitchen which was definitely a local dive and even though there were lots of people sitting outside the wait was quick.  We loved the breakfast and the owner was so friendly and accommodating as was the waitstaff.  Even though it was overcast and so cloudy Carly was dead set on riding one of these 4-wheel bikes when we returned to the hotel.

And she drove me nuts until I finally let her drive!  One direction things were all dandy but coming back against the wind was a workout.

Of course she needed a snow cone as a reward before we headed back to the ballpark.

Of course for game two we were fully dressed in our Hooks gear!

Sweet sisters!

We grabbed lunch with this guy at Harrison’s Landing which was delicious with great service and right on the water.

Of course I found this fun art wall so the kids entertained me and took a picture.

And Carly Jo convinced Nana she also needed to ride the bike!

A little pre-game photo shoot!  Never did I round up all my babies at once.

We had not seen Riley pitch live in almost two years so it was a huge bonus to see him log another inning while we were there. After the win we headed to Water Street Seafood Company for amazing food and service plus happy hour drink prices!

Corpus Christi - The Queen in Between

On Monday we grabbed breakfast and headed out to the Texas State Aquarium.  If you visit Corpus this is a must!

We were able to touch stingrays (Carly’s favorite).

Watch an underwater dolphin show with these two stars.

See lots of marine life.  I personally love the starfish and sea horses.

And Carly was impressed with the sharks until she found out these actually swim in the gulf!

Thic Octopus was SO COOL!!  It was moving all around and I just loved it.

Oh, and please tell me you can see the poodle in these clouds!!  I totally can.

It was a very unplanned but exciting weekend and I’m so glad the timing worked out just perfectly with a 4 day weekend.  I’m sure we will be back as soon as we can!

This weekend we are off to the Fort Worth area for some 7 on 7 football.  We don’t sit still much this time of year for sure!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
