Happy 17th Dillon

Happy Birthday Dillon

Today this kid is turning 17! I know I say it every single time one of my kids has a birthday but it is really, really just so hard to believe it’s been 17 years!

Dillon was born five days after his due date on a Tuesday after finally being induced. He took what seemed like forever for a 3rd baby and when he finally was born the chord was wrapped around his neck and he gave us a bit of a scare by taking his own sweet time to finally decide to take a breath.

Had we known at the time, this was really just his personality! Dillon is probably the very most chill of all my kids. He’s not loud, he doesn’t get too worked up and he is responsible. Don’t let that fool you though. If he becomes passionate about something or feels he is being treated unfairly he will let it be known.

As the poem goes, Tuesdays child is full of grace. While my initial thought about this poem has always been the physical kind of grace, when it comes to Dillon I think God given grace is more fitting. He gives grace freely to others and to himself.

In the past year I have seen him mature so much and really become more accountable. Since beginning to drive I can count on Dillon to always be willing to help me with errands or carpooling his sister around with zero push back.

Dillon loves nothing more than to be out hunting or on a boat fishing. Since he was little he would literally take a stick and a string if he had to and create a hook and head out to the creek to try and catch anything swimming by.

Did I mention he also loves baseball? This year he struggled a bit but I have loved watching him continue to walk out onto that mound and try again. It has been a work in progress and seeing his confidence grow makes my mom heart happy.

My favorite thing about Dillon will always be his sweet smile and hearing him still call me momma. Even though he is 6’4″ and kind of towers over me, he will always be my baby!

Happy 17th birthday Dillon. Cannot wait to see what year 18 brings!
