Shape Up Tips for 2019 + Linkup

·

Do you have a goal to shape up a bit in 2019? I think we can all agree in the back of our minds we care about our health and wellness but sometimes we let life get in the way. Here are a few easy ways to stay motivated.

Shape Up Tips 2019

One | Weigh yourself if you must, it’s the beginning of the year after all, but then make a mental note and put that scale away. Getting on the scale every day can really wreak havoc on your mental health and actually serve to deflate you. Instead, try to concentrate on how you feel each day; mentally and physically. Paying attention to how our clothes are fitting is really the best indicator.

Two | Make a commitment to yourself and keep it. I like to work in weekly increments but 30 days seems to be a commitment most people can keep. Vow to increase your daily steps, cut out something from your daily intake you know is hindering you, drink more water!

Three | Schedule your wellness just as you would any other appointment. Take a day each week to evaluate your calendar and write in time for being active. Use this time to decide on your meals for the week and decide ahead of tine where you might be considering a splurge or two.

Four | Add a fitness tracker. Seriously, this was such a game changer for me. Seeing how active or inactive I might be in a regular day at the office was quite eye opening. It became a challenge to me to up those steps during the day and it was so easy to set goals for myself.

Five | Dress for success! Yep, if you want to be successful you need the right gear. No, this doesn’t have to cost a ton but finding a quality pair of shoes and having a few pieces of activewear you feel good in can go a long way to insuring you feel great during and after your activities.

Workout Gear I Love

Personally I love high rise leggings because the one thing I don’t want to deal with is constantly having to pull my pants up during a workout. Typically I choose the cropped length as they work year round for me. I also want the material to be thick enough to cover well and not look see through when I bend over.

I also highly suggest you purchase a sports bra to support your workout. Target has a great selection for reasonable prices and you can find them broken down by low, medium or high impact.

This time of year I also love to have a few lightweight pullovers, hoodies or long sleeve active tops on hand as I head out. If I’m out for a walk I want to be able to shed a layer and tie around my waist and these all make great options.
