Friday Favorites – A Little Randomness

·
While time is surely not standing still by any means, the past couple of weeks have seemed to move a bit slower and I haven’t felt quite so overwhelmed as I felt I surely would with all the activities.  Here are a few of the things I am digging this week.

{ONE}

My favorite post this week was from Hunt and Host titled Before and After:  House to Home.  I found this blog recently through a friend and low and behold this amazing lady also lives in my town!  Crazy how the blog world works.  She has some amazing projects but as a non-DIY’er what I love most is how she ties her post back to God every single time.  Reading this post after Easter was so powerful.  Go give her a read!

Spring and summer are probably my very favorite times of year to cook.  My body is craving healthier food and it’s the perfect time to start grilling outdoors.  My favorite meal this week has been Cilantro Lime Shrimp and you can find the recipe by Skinny Mom here.  This is a quick and easy favorite it just requires having the right ingredients on hand.  Keith ate his with rice and Cary Jo and I  tossed ours in a salad.  I’m thinking they would also be great as tacos with corn tortillas.

No more braces for this sweet boy!  It is so crazy to me how it makes them look so much older just by removing the braces.  Our orthodontist took this picture of us and emailed it to me today with a nice note.
 And then when I got home this was in the mail!  How cool that they had Dillon write a thank you note to us?!!  If you are in the BCS area we had a great experience with Dr. Andrews who took over the practice from Dr. Pratt.

Girls Night Out!  These girls were my running buddies last fall when I was training for the half marathon.  Every time we run into each other we say we are going to get together.  I decided to stop waiting on a friend and took the initiative to schedule a date and I even drove us.  It was a great night for dinner on the patio and it was so fun to catch up.  It’s funny how you can pass each other day after day dropping off kids at school and not really know all that could be going on in someones life.  These girls are all special!

I have always, always loved to take pictures!  On Wednesday I was able to shoot some senior pictures for a handsome boy I’ve known since he was born.  It was so fun.  The least favorite part is my dear Nikon started failing on me about a quarter of the way through.  I’m still nervous to look and see if any were salvaged.  I am trying to use some restraint but I really just want to order a new camera before I miss anything important!! If you love taking pictures and are thinking about a lens that really does a great job for portraits, the 50mm f1.8 is so easy to learn and it is cheap in the way of lenses.  Totally worth it.  Here is a write up with 8 reasons why you need this lens.
The Frogs are in Kansas but it is back to the ball field with the little man this weekend in Round Rock if the weather holds out.  I love the Austin area so there are never any complaints from me when we head that direction.
Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!
