Five on Friday – Making it in May

Happy Friday!  It is May 18th and we are making it, if only barely.  We all know this month will be jam packed with activities but somehow it always catches me off guard.  My friend Holly noted it is also mental healthy awareness month and we decided this is no coincidence.  I have so many blog ideas floating around in my head, notes posted all over the place with ideas but no cognitive ability left to actually pull those into a post!  Shopping?  Nope, haven’t done any of that either.

So here is a peak into what I have accomplished this week!  Some productive and some just to save me from hurting myself or others!  haha

One | Celebrated a friendaversary with my buds Holly and Katy!  We laughed, we bitched a little, we celebrated what our friendship the past few years has meant to one another!  It was amazing even if the next morning I realized that last margarita may have not been completely necessary.

Two | I cooked a meal!  That’s right, don’t be jealous but I managed to cook ONE meal this week and it was freaking taco meat.  This is so not the norm for me and I really do pride myself on having home cooked meals around here but seriously something had to give and this was it.

Three | Made it to the gym twice for a real workout and logged some miles walking the other two days.  I’ve been active all four days and believe me my mental health needed it. Sitting or even standing at a desk all day will get me about 2300 steps and that’s if I drink enough water to have to pee.  This week I averaged 11,491 steps per day and I’m kind of proud about it!

Four | Ate lunch alone!  On Thursday I took my laptop and headed out to Zoe’s Kitchen for some delicious salmon kabobs and sat alone in a restaurant for an hour of uninterrupted time.  Y’all, why do I NOT do this more often?  Again, good for my mental health!!

Five | Left chores for the kids!  No, this is not a regular occurrence. I’m not the mom who makes her kids do regular chores.  It’s not that I don’t have expectations and not that they aren’t capable but sometimes just writing the dang list is too much out of my day (and yes I know this sounds dumb).  The girl who was cleaning my house graduated and moved into the real working world and I’m determined if everyone does their part we can save a little money over the summer.  I have to say I was super impressed neither of my kids complained and Carly actually asked me if I could continue to leave a list of what needs to be done.  What?! I’ll let y’all know how long I survive without someone cleaning my house. Ha!

So cheers to surviving this wild month of May!  We are over half way there and it’s the only thing standing between us and SUMMER!

If you missed it, yesterday I recapped our weekend in Corpus Christi.  Carly Jo and I had so much fun finding some unexpected art.

The Moms Rock May Style challenge is still going strong on instagram and I recapped the outfits I’ve worn so far this month!  You can hop on over and see what my friend Vanessa is wearing for the challenge too as she’s totally been rocking it! Bonus she included some song videos for more inspiration!
