Wrapping Up the Weekend

·
We are in the home stretch!  I am off work until January 5th and all my babies are nearby so this momma has a full heart.
Friday morning started like this…..does anyone else require the laundry to be warm to be able to fold it?  I don’t know why but I just really can’t fold the laundry unless it is warm and these clothes have been reheated at least four times!
Riley made it home Friday afternoon and we decided to grill burgers for dinner.  I loved having all my babies at my house laying around doing absolutely nothing but catching up and being together.  Jordan lives in town but she is a busy young professional so we don’t see her every day either.  She was enjoying some bonding time with our little Dutch Buddy.  Love these two to pieces!

Saturday was suppose to be all about baking and being productive.  I managed to get my Christmas cards mailed and was super excited I did not have to stand in the line at the post office.  I know I have said it at least 100 times but sending and receiving Christmas cards is one of my very favorite things to do!
I ran to return a few things at the mall and my first clue this was a mistake should have been the number of cars in the parking lot.  There was a time in my life when I’m pretty sure I loved actually going shopping….this time has passed.  I pretty much do the majority of my shopping online and evidently I do this because being with this many other people makes me want to claw my eyes out.  Mix this with the most hormonal day of my month and it was just a combination for crazy waiting to happen.  After trying to return a leopard coat I purchased online from Forever 21 and realizing I was ONE DAY passed the return date I decided to throw it on and head to lunch!
I twisted the arm of these ladies and we had a super lunch and mimosas to get Saturday back on track! Three generations of crazy right here!
And we had a waiter with personality plus who I immediately bonded with after he complimented my  not to be returned coat.
I guess the mimosas balanced out the hormones and I found a way to pull myself together and headed to the store to pick up the baking supplies.  Back home and immediately into my PJ’s and ready to hunker down and make some progress.
I typically make 3-4 different things but the overwhelming favorite are my Meme’s chocolate cookies.  I’ll be sharing the recipe soon!  I’d like to say I’ve completed my baking for the year but my family seems to deplete my inventory almost as quickly as I make it.  Seriously these cookies make it really hard to stop with one!
First round I paired these chocolate cookies with chocolate covered peanuts and pecan sandies and created these label to attach.  In years past I purchased tins or cute plates but this year I grabbed the HEB brand plastic containers and called it good.  Thankfully they come with festive red lids all year long!

The best part about Saturday was having my kids….all four of them…laying around in my living room watching Christmas movies and visiting with me while I baked.
Sunday I was up early for round 1 of more baking and then we were off to church and a quick lunch with my littles.  These two are either totally loving on each other or completely annoying each other all the time.

My oldest three kids have pretty much been active in sports since at least five years old but my little miss is just not very competitive.  We have tried soccer and dance and gymnastics and I have recently convinced her to try volleyball but she is just very “whatever” and doesn’t really show a lot of interest.  I hope eventually she will find the bug but if not I really hope I find something that she can be passionate about and call her own.  She also does not really like me to watch her practice and when she saw me taking these pictures she gave me the cut sign.  She totally cracks me up.

Little man had a youth group Christmas part and thankfully his number 2 mom, Holly, actually reads her emails and is prepared when his own mom is not!  She made the cutest shirts for the boys using duct tape!   Here is Dillon with his iPad gift and his best bud.  As you can tell they love posing for pictures.
Keith grilled fajitas and we enjoyed yet another night with all four kids at home!  Overjoyed by my picture request obviously.
Looking forward to Christmas week and more fun with family!
Merry Christmas!
