Those of you following along here or on Instagram have already seen most of these outfits. I’m sharing some details today. These pictures are not all high quality as I had to use the iPhone several times but hopefully you will get the idea.
Last week I posted about being Pin-spired to Pack Lightly for this trip. I am an over packer deluxe and wanted to use a carry on to save us some time and hassle not to mention baggage fees. Here is how I dressed for our trip to California. It was cool in Texas and we weren’t landing in California until 5:00 so I knew this layered outfit would work for both.
I purchased these Witt & Wisdom jeans before Christmas and I cannot say enough good things about them. I have worn them SO many times. I layered a light Gap sweater very similar to this one under my new jacket from Nordstrom still on sale here. My green military jacket is also Caslon brand and I really love it. All Caslon jackets can be found here.
Day one in beautiful California I chose these J. Crew denim shorts. I know you are going to get tired of hearing it but J. Crew Factory shorts have become my favorites. I officially have more pair than I should admit. Thanks to Cassie at Hi Sugarplum I snagged this cute fringe cross body bag for $28. It was the perfect size and fit nicely in my carry on. It comes in black too. My supersoft Gap T-shirt was the perfect weight and while I don’t see this color on the website any longer, here is the link to all supersoft T’s. Lastly, I purchased the ringer scarf in blue and purple after they have been sitting in my bag at Nordstrom for probably 6 months. Shay has been talking about these forever and as usual they are super.
Same jeans and lightweight sweater from our trip out layered with the ringer scarf and my jacket once it got cool. As you can see I’m holding onto one of my favorite accessories. 🙂
My very favorite outfit of the trip!! These cutoffs are a cream color and were perfect with my chambray shirt, wedges and a leopard belt. Note to self…wedges are not the ideal shoe if the beach you want to walk to is down multiple steep inclines.
Similar Chambray Shirt here
Terrible picture but I had to include it. I have never liked myself in a fedora but last year I found if I wore my hair to the side or in low pig tails it actually looked better. I was so excited to wear it again! This from Old Navy is adorable and 30% off through Wednesday!
For the trip home I kept it comfortable with this top and my new camo pants from Loft which are currently sold out. I never really thought I would find many things to wear Converse shoes with but I was so wrong. These saw plenty of street time in Cali and the grey has been perfect for me.
This was a little bit of a hodge podge but hopefully you get the picture and a few ideas!
And how did I do with the carry on? Truth be told I still OVERPACKED! I had 2 pairs of shorts, a maxi dress and 2 tops I didn’t even touch.
You can use the code HEYSPRING at J. Crew Factory for 30% off your order right now so if you are wanting to try some shorts it’s the perfect time!
Here’s where I’m linking up today! Happy Humpday!
