Wearing Lately – February Style

Last February I decided to use the month to shop my closet to create 28 daily looks and I loved it so much I’m doing it again this year! Here in Texas, February is typically the last month we have true winter weather and it offers me a great chance to evaluate the items in my closet before I begin transitioning it it to spring items. I keep a shopping bag in my closet and at the end of the day if I didn’t love what I was wearing it goes in the bag to donate or resale. So here are the looks I’m wearing lately for a little February style.

Striped Sweater Option | Gingham Top | Pants | Boots

I’m crazy for a good pattern mix and it is an easy way to get me out of a rut when I’m using my closet. I love this colorful sweater I grabbed at Target last year but haven’t worn it much this season. In the fall I purchased the green gingham button down and decided to try them together. It was love at first sight for me! These pants are such a great pull on in a deep green that arrived in a past Stitch Fix box. They are Liverpoole Los Angeles brand and they are so comfortable. Of course my Frye boots have been around for probably 5 years and are still one of the best investments I’ve ever made!

That’s right, once I remember I love something I have to keep looking for more ways to use it! Another pattern mix and this day it was animal print and stripes. The key to pattern mixing is to find two patterns who balance each other out instead of clash. I love this combo! The top is so old and every time I wear it I remember I hate it. This time was not exception and I vow to leave it in the bag to donate instead of hesitating and putting it back in my closet. My closet is FULL of vests but I haven’t worn them as much this year as in the past. I honestly love this one but meant to return it in the fall when I realized how many I had but never got around to it!

These black jeans are another piece I have from Liverpoole Los Angeles that I purchased from Stitch Fix. Did you know you can actually just shop stitch fix for individual items instead of getting a curated box? At some point they sent me a coupon to try this service and I grabbed these jeans! I love them and wear them at least twice a week.

My boots were one of my big splurges in the fall. I tried them on and couldn’t quit thinking about them! So far I have not seen them go on sale but I’ve worn them enough that the price has been justified to me. They are waterproof so maybe that helps! Ha!

Anyone else love a good, casual Saturday look? I know I sure do and this one was so cozy. The quarter zip sweater from Loft has definitely been a favorite purchase and I’ve worn it so many times already. It works great with the shacket I picked up at a boutique in my hometown. I also added these Ugg boots this winter and they are currently 50% off. The shorter height is a little more practical in Texas and I’ve been amazed at how warm my feet stay! They will come in handy for those chilly baseball games.

Kut from Kloth have been a denim win for me lately. I grabbed these directly from the Kut shop when they were having a sale. I finally gave in an ordered a size up until I’m able to get a handle on the hormone upheavel in my body and so they are for sure my favorite right now!

When I posted this look on Instagram, I had so many comments about this coat! It is several years old from A&F, but they have one very similar right now. It is really great quality and the fit is TTS for me and it comes in petite and tall sizing. I’ve also loved this sweater I ordered from Amazon as it’s not super heavy and has a great cut at the hem that makes it very flattering with jeans or leggings.

I always forget how much I love denim and black together. The chambray just pops against the black don’t you think? This was an easy look for the office and while I love this skirt, I don’t wear it as much in the winter. I for sure don’t wear tights often but that may change because I really love this! My boots are so old and the black is starting to show some wear but I love them soo much and am thinking about taking them in for some TLC to see if a cobbler can spruce them up.

If you ever need a brainless look, monochrome is always a win. I always forget how much I like to pair mauve and burgundy but this old sweater and jacket have been friends for awhile. My trousers are my fave style for work as they are comfortable and flattering but I noticed these have some piling in the crouch (because chub rub) so I’m going to try to let them go into the toss pile. They are currently BOGO 50% off so I may have to order a replacement! Side note, if you are between sizes order up in these.

If it’s not apparent, I had quite the boot problem in 2021. These are yet another pair of boots I splurged on in the fall that I have not regretted. I debated white booties for so long and wasn’t sure if I would wear them much but now I only wish I had grabbed them sooner! My exact boots are sold out in this color but there is a great caramel color on sale here or a slightly lower heel still available and on sale in this color.

Lastly is this cropped jean look. I’m still trying to wear these jeans and feel like I know what I’m doing! Kick crops are such a trend right now but they are tricky for me since I’m tall. I did grab these in a tall length and I do think I love them most with a boot that is tall enough to fit under the hem. Crops look so good on most people but I’m 3/4 legs and sometimes I think they just cut me off but the pointed toe boots help. If you are looking to try these, this pair is currently an additional 50% off the already reduced price. I found them TTS but like I said I ordered the tall for a little longer look.

All that being said, I thought I nailed this look! I love how it all came together with my fave Walmart blazer and a little cami. It is an easy way to dress jeans up for the office but also classy enough for a date night!

I’ve really loved getting dressed this month! If you want to follow along daily, I’m sharing in my Instagram story and every day is saved in a Create 28 highlight. I hope you find some inspiration here to use your own closet more efficiently.
