Vacation Edition – TBB Asks July

It’s the first Monday of the month which brings another round of The Blended Blogs asks!  This months theme is all about vacations.  Do you take one?  Do you have a preference hot or cold?   Grab the questions, add your answers and linkup!  TBB Asks July #linkup

ONE | Currently we do not have an official summer vacation planned.  Summers for us tend to revolve around baseball tournaments and I was so looking forward to a trip to Atlanta this year but sadly my job is having to come first.  The boys will leave this week for Atlanta and I will head to Lubbock at the end of the month for a different tourney.  Carly Jo already has a full page of things to do in Lubbock God love her soul!  Still crossing my fingers we may get away for a few days to see Riley play.  Regardless, we will find some way to build in a little fun!

And if you think I’m complaining, I’m really not!  Baseball has taken us to Long Beach, Omaha (4 times!), Missouri, Phoenix (and the grand canyon), Marina del Ray, Orlando and West Palm Beach.  We have had some amazing times away just not with all 6 of us at the same time!

TWO | So I truly love both!  If I travel to the beach or a mountain somewhere I am really good at chilling but take me to a new city and you can guarantee I want to pack in as many sites as possible during my visit.  My trip to NYC to celebrate my friend Holly’s 40th birthday was definitely one for the books!

THREE | Hmm…well if I really had my choice I would say vacationing in October and May would probably be my favorite.  Last year Keith and I headed to Scottsdale, AZ for a few days and it was absolutely perfect!

FOUR | I probably shouldn’t give this an automatic NO since I have actually never been on a cruise, but I have to say it is not something I’ve really cared to try.

FIVE | Our vacations have been so sporadic I cannot really say there is a tradition!  On our Route 66 Roadtrip back from California two years ago we had a fun time with a little snack challenge.  Every time we stopped the challenge was on to find the best snack that was made in the state we were in.

SIX | My most memorable family vacation has definitely been our trip to Destin.  It was the first trip we were able to really afford a full week away and Jordan had just graduated high school.  One of the best things I did was to hire a professional photographer to take some family pictures!  Flash forward 9 years and we have not been able to vacation with all 6 of us since. My fingers are crossed we can piece something together for Thanksgiving or the week after Christmas this year.

SEVEN | I’m definitely an overpacker!  Even now that I have learned to pack in a carry on, I still totally bring way too many clothes.  I’m just super emotional when it comes to getting dressed sometimes and like to have options.

EIGHT | I’d definitely say for an extended vacation a condo or house would be my choice.  With 6 of us it is not easy to live the hotel life without breaking the bank.

NINE | I love eating the local favorites when I’m on vacation!  Having social media available has really opened a whole new world to finding the best food while traveling.  You can bet the calories are not counting on vacation and I will be trying all the things.

TEN | If I had to choose between the two I’m going to have to go with warm but I honestly don’t mind the cold as long as the scenery is beautiful and we have a way to warm up!  We took the littles skiing for the first time in January 2017 and it was so darn cold but so much fun!  We made memories I know the kids will never forget light almost being stranded on the mountain!

Bonus:  Share with me your favorite places to vacation as a family!  I’d love to know, especially if it is a great location during the Thanksgiving or Christmas break!
