Me Before You is the most emotional book I’ve read in a very long time but well worth the ugly cry. I still have not seen the movie but can assure you this is a really worth the read. The characters and the story are so believable and I so loved every word. I also finished After Youand, while it did not stir my emotions quite the same it would still be high on my list.
“Our words are powerful, and they have consequences.”
“Don’t say something permanently painful just because you are temporarily ticked off.”
“My words, sometimes even my lack of words, have caused me much pain over the years. It hasn’t always been that I have gossiped or lied. Sometimes I just talk too much. Or I repeated the words of others, which I should not have. Other times I have tried to say the right thing, but it came out the wrong way. Or I have said the right thing but in the presence of the wrong people or at the wrong time. There was just no shortage to the ways I could misuse my mouth.”
“We might have to choose to let go of the need to prove our point, choosing instead to do the right thing: to impart grace and deal with the other person in love and with utmost patience.”
I didn’t remember until I began reading this book that I read another of Karen’s books, Let. It. Go., years ago. I am kind of thinking I may need to reread it!
