The Queen’s Chronicles – January Weekending

Good morning and happy Monday! We had a stormy start to the weekend which lead to some much cooler temps around here. It was a productive weekend in many ways with a little laziness sprinkled in. I’m excited to look forward knowing our coming weekend will be 3 days!!

I’m sharing a quick little snip of our weekend as part of The Queen’s Chronicles. This space helps to serve as a little scrapbook for our family and it’s so fun to look back on each year.

Last Thursday I headed into Houston with my Mamaw for a visit with the neurosurgeon to have an updated cat scan and have the staples removed from her head. It was a super long day but she handled it as best as could be expected; better actually. Now to get her into a hair appointment!

While she has improved a ton, her dementia still makes it very hard. She continues to be confused about being here one day and then the next fairly calm and happy. She continues to ask why she’s still here (on earth) and my only answer for her is so that I can learn compassion, kindness and patience because it takes all three for sure! I truly appreciate you prayers for her as every single time I’ve asked for a specific one it has been answered. Maybe not exactly how I would have answered but I’m learning to trust God’s process.

It was time to give my hair a little break from the hair extentions (insert sad face) so I decided to go ahead and give it a good chop too. While I don’t necessarily hate my hair short, it just usually takes a bit to get use to. I definitely think the one-step dryer and volumizer is going to be my new best friend!

My stylist was wearing this exact outfit when I went in and I decided it was too darling not to copy! These fry boots were one of my splurge purchases during the first Nordstrom anniversary sale I ever shopped and they have definitely held up so well!

Coffee and snuggles on a Saturday morning is my favorite! I had to laugh though because when I finally got up and took a good look out the window I saw our fence was down. So much for a lazy Saturday.

The National Charity League is a mother/daughther organization promoting moms and daughters serving together and Sunday was the annual tea. We reconized the senior girls and their moms and enjoyed practicing our etiquiette as we visited with other moms and daughters.

These two have just grown up so much in a year! I know it won’t be long before they are leaving for college too!

They are comfortable with each other in a way all best friends should be. While they can be silly and love each other hard, they can also be like sisters and really get on each others nerves. At the end of the day their bond is solid and unwavering.

They are fairly cute too which helps because together they can be ALOT to handle!

Holden has a passion for serving and for animals and has been so lucky to combine the two with her sweet dog Millie. She works with the local pets with a purpose and was able to head out to see my Mamaw one day last week.

This week our sweet Dillon turns 18! It’s really hard to believe my third baby will officially be an “adult” if only on paper. The time is ticking by so quickly and graduation will be here in a flash. Trying to soak it up as we head into our busy baseball season.

Wishing you all a super week!
