The Queen’s Chronicles

·
March is here and it is feeling so much like spring here in Texas.  I’m loving the temperature and the longer days.  Here is a look at all we packed in this week.
It was Staff Appreciation Week at Texas A&M and there were activities pretty much every single day.  My sweet coworker Katy and I headed over to main campus for a picnic on the lawn and enjoyed lunch in a sea of maroon.
This girl is full of life which means she is a joy to be around 9 times out of 10 but full of life also means she has “all the feelings” and I’m often shocked when they turn up.  We have been taking walks and on this evening we were having the best little walk together when all of a sudden her mood changed and she got so mad at me and refused to continue.  I finally just had to walk away and leave her and all of a sudden I see her cutting across the empty grassy area dragging her scooter to get in front of me.  Oh goodness I really hope I have enough energy left for this one!
Woohoo….I made it to the gym for workouts 3 days this week and went for a 2 mile jog/walk one day.  I really need to be going 5 days a week and workouts like this are tough but I love the way I feel when we get done.
Especially when my boss shows up with a strawberry tart to surprise us for Staff Appreciation Week. Challenge accepted!
I’m not sure who was more excited about enjoying the ride home with the windows down.
But I sure was glad to see her back to her happy self!
I mentioned a few Fridays back the Brazos Valley was hosting the first ever Brazos Valley Fashion Week.  This was a big fundraiser held to raise funds for the Fun for All Playground for kids with special needs.
Friday night I attended with my friend Arranna and these sweet ladies who are her buddies.  I wore a new top I received in a recent Trunk Club shipment (more on this one day this week).  I bought these heels on super clearance I think mid June last year but I haven’t pulled them out to wear yet.  They were perfect to pull this outfit together!
I met Arranna probably about 17 years ago.  We both work for A&M but I really got to know her after I started dating Keith who worked at the time with her then husband.  Since then we have had the opportunity to work together at A&M multiple times and she is just an amazing woman.   We had so much fun and after the show spent an hour eating dinner and talking about our faith.  It was such a great night of fellowship and fashion!
And I also got to see these guys at the show.  My friend Ginny’s son, Garrett, is pushing his acting dream in Hollywood but came to down to model in the fashion show.   What a lucky boy to have parents willing to take a chance and allow him to follow his dreams!
Staff Appreciation Week continued on Saturday with a fun day at Kyle Field.  Keith headed to Katy with Dillon for baseball so these girls and I headed to have some fun.
And these girls know how to have fun!
We seriously need some of these at home!
They are just growing up so fast and it was so much fun just hanging with them and letting them enjoy the day together.
Of course there had to be some ice cream too!
My friend Katy scored some tickets to the Saturday night show so I headed back to the runway.  Aren’t her shorts adorable?  So classy and friends….they have an elastic waist….yes please!  They come in 3″ and 5″ and even though I did not need any more shorts I did order a pair today while they are 40% off just to try.  You can find them here and just as adorable (and elastic) is the skirt here.  I picked up a new pair of destructed jeans that I am in love with!  My friend Sandy at Burlap and Pearls has these in stock and they are less boyfriend and more fitted which I totally needed to not feel so frumpy.
The models were all really great and I’m really digging this long jacket here in the middle.  The culottes too in the first picture…so…much….fun!  You can check out All Hearts Photography to see more fun pictures.
Sunday we headed back to Katy for two more games.  Dillon played great in the first game at 3rd base and had several great heads up plays.
He came in to pitch in game two and started off striking out the first batter.
And then he got a little wild.  He was either firing in a strike or hitting the batter.
Thankfully I had plenty of practice seeing a kid struggle to find it on the mound.  He ended up hitting 6 batters in 2 innings…yikes!  At least he remained positive and knows what he needs to work on.
I have so much to do to get ready for our trip later this week…..and trying to figure out when that will happen!  It may be slow blog week for sure.  Be sure to tune in on Tuesday for the Queen Bee series when I will be highlighting a woman who inspires me with her organization!  Katy and I would love for you to link up with us to honor any woman who inspires you but we did pull together the following prompts for the year just in case you need a little help narrowing down someone in your tribe!
See where I might be linking this week here!
Wishing you all a beautiful week!
