The Night before

This blog has definitely taken a backseat to life as it seems the in betweens of the last few years have really taken precedence. As I have often mentioned, I do love having this little scrapbook to look back on to record sweet memories and so this edition of the Queen’s Chronicles deserved a little love and attention as we celebrated Jordan and Jonathan the night before their wedding day.

I’m dying to be able to share all the details from the wedding too and hopefully we will have lovely pictures to share by the first of the year. Until then, here are some pics along with a few words I pulled together for a toast the night before. Our family and their sweet friends all came together to celebrate them with such love and enthusiasm. They are a special couple and have a really sweet story and it’s been truly such a blessing to watch it all play out.

A Toast to Jordan & Jonathan

Ever since the day Jordan was born, she’s been so full of joy, light, and love to give. As a little girl, she was enchanted by Disney princesses and their fairytales—and as her mom, I couldn’t help but dream of the day her own fairytale would begin. So I started praying early and often for the kind of man who would one day win her heart. Truthfully, I knew it would take someone very special to meet the standard.

When Jordan was about fifteen, this boy started hanging around. She assured me they were “just friends,” but based on my own teenage experience, I wasn’t so sure. I don’t remember the exact details, but as Jonathan likes to tell it, he and Jordan were “hanging out” in his parents’ garage when I came barreling around the corner in my green Expedition—on two wheels—rolled down the window and shouted, “Jordan, get home now!” In my defense, I submit Exhibit A: does this look like a boy with good intentions? Apparently, though, I misjudged the situation—they really were just friends.

The years went on, and I kept praying for God to watch over my girl and bring her the right man. Let’s just say… we were both a little disappointed in the options for quite a while!

Then came 2018. I was still praying… and also casually keeping tabs on Jordan via Life360. I kept noticing her location at a house on Manzano Court. Now, instead of just asking her, I did what any modern mom would do: I snooped on Brazos CAD. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the house belonged to Jonathan! At first I may have gasp—but my mom-brain quickly followed with, “Wait a minute…he already owns a house? And under 30? Impressive.”

Eventually Jordan started bringing him around, and it didn’t take long for us to realize how much we liked Jonathan. With his wit, charm, and good looks, what’s not to like? But for me, what has mattered most is watching him love my daughter so well—and now care for Jaxson, too. Over these last few years, he hasn’t just won Jordan’s heart; he’s earned a permanent place in ours as well.

It always makes me smile (and maybe roll my eyes a bit) at the way God works with such a sense of humor. The very boy I once worried about having the wrong intentions turned out to be the one I’d been praying for all along. With a little help from God and his amazing parents, Jonathan is exactly the kind of man. I prayed Jordan would find.

So here we are tonight, celebrating my beautiful daughter and her real-life fairytale. My mom heart is so full. Let’s raise a glass to Jordan and Jonathan: may this be only the beginning of a long, joyful, and dreamy life together.
