Summer Lovin’ – TBB Asks June
Good morning friends! It’s Monday, it’s June and I could not be happier to say goodbye to May and hello to summer. The only thing I would hand back are these 100 degree days which seem to be coming fast. Today I’m joining The Blended Blog for this fun little series and the theme for June is Summer Lovin’. Walk or Bike Ride
I have to say I do love me a good bike ride but it seems like every time we go to ride a tire is flat or some other maintenance issue is happening. I’ve been doing lots of walking in the evenings trying to hit my daily step limit so right now I’d have to go with walk.
Favorite Picnic Food
Gosh, food is my favorite! We don’t go on many picnics, but I’m thinking my favorite pasta salad would be an amazing side to pack in a picnic basket!
Pool or Lake
Umm if I cannot see my feet I really am not so keen on venturing in. Hanging at the pool would be my choice between these two options but this girl would prefer the beach to both! Of course we’ve made an annual trip with our besties happen the past two years and I’d say I’d go to a lake, the pool or the beach with these peeps!
Favorite Flavor Ice Cream
Chocolate….anything with chocolate! I do not like vanilla ice cream at all so typically I grab it first from the store so I can be sure I won’t be tempted. I love to eat plain old dutch chocolate with some almond milk poured over the top. When I was growing up my dad was gone alot throughout the year but when he was home he would go to the corner store and bring back an array of ice cream bars after dinner. It is one of my favorite memories! My favorite was a bar of chocolate ice cream with a hard chocolate shell covered in nuts. Yum!
Ice Cream Cone or Dish
I’m a cone girl all the way! Especially a good waffle cone.
Flip Flops or Slides
I don’t know if slides just look funny on my feet or what but I will almost always choose a flip flop first. They make me feel more stable! This year I splurged with some money my momma gave me for doing her taxes and bought myself a pair of Millers and I’ve been wearing them non-stop! That being said, I’ve been trying to decided on my first pair of Birks and that’s the big debate; traditional look or the more flip flop looking one.
Jean Shorts or Capris
Definitely shorts! I love a great pair of jean shorts and always dreamed of being able to just cut off a pair of Levis growing up. I always ended up cutting those suckers way too short! This year I’m loving both the denim (30% off!) and white denim (buy 1 get one 50% off) pair I’ve picked up! Both are TTS but if you are between sizes I’d size down.

Favorite Summer Fruit
I love most fruit but I have to say hands down I could eat my weight in watermelon over the summer! It brings back so many sweet memories from my childhood. My Papa Dutch (yes I named our dog after my late grandpa) would slice a watermelon in half and we would all just sit around it digging out our bites. Of course we added salt too! And then my Meme would give us straws and we would drink the juice. And no, back then swapping germs was not even on my mind!
Corn on the Cob or Off
ON! I love me some corn on the cob too! When I was growing up both sets of grandparents grew fresh corn but I only liked eating it from my mom’s parents because they left it on the cob. The other grandparents both had dentures and cut all of theirs off the cob to freeze. Funny the things we remember!
Favorite Summertime Song
Y’all, this is the hardest question on here!! I cannot even be asked to pick one. There are so many great songs that take me back and remind me of summer but here are a few I can definitely say make me want to head to a beach or a patio for happy hour.
But y’all, my kids have been singing this song and it showed up as a top 2018 summer song and it’s very catchy but even better I love the video.
Favorite summertime activity | Heading to the coast whether we are on the boat fishing or parked in a beach chair it’s definitely my favorite!
Favorite Berry
I’d have to say I love dewberries and miss my Meme’s cobbler like crazy! I always think I’m going to attempt to make it but so far I have not.
Bikini, Tankini or One Piece
I’ve always been a bikini girl but after 4 babies I’m kind of thinking those days are mostly over. Tankini’s do not work for my body at all and end up riding up all the time so I’ve definitely transitioned to a one piece. The black halter I grabbed last year makes me feel so great and is super flattering and holds things in! I picked up this one to try over the weekend which was adorable in the dressing room. You’ll have to excuse the quality of the picture….and my baseball mom shorts tan line but here is a look at the halter suit.
Dress or Skirt
I love the idea of skirts but my crazy body is extremely picky. A great swing dress with good flow would be my choice so no sticking to all that sweat!
One Word to Describe Summer
I’d love to say lazy but I’m going to have to go with HOT. If the last week was any indication we are in for a really hot one this summer which will definitely make my desire to be near the water grow!
