Stripes & Plaid + TBB Style Linkup

Do you love mixing patterns or are you still a little cautious?  Well mixing stripes and plaid was probably one of the very first ways I ventured into pattern mixing.  It is such a super easy way to add some fun and create a look with great texture.  It really is as easy as it looks if you follow just a few simple tips.

  • Choose colors which compliment one another.  I love how this scarf adds so much color to the outfit and doesn’t match the navy or olive green exactly but blends perfectly to pull this outfit together.
  • Allow one print to dominate.  In this case the striped top is definitely a little more shy than the bold plaid.
  • Break up the look with a solids.  I love how this vest steps in to bring this entire look together.

Now, if you really want to live on the wild side and get everybody talkin’ just go ahead and add in a third pattern to the mix!  I chose camo with this look but could have just as easily picked leopard as I did here.  In my opinion both camo and leopard act as a neutral!

All of my pieces are straight from my closet and have been around for a bit but if you are looking to try out this pattern mixing thing for yourself I’ve recreated with pieces still available.

If you are looking for a super gift for someone special, these Frye boots are on sale.  They are an investment but one I made 4 years ago and they are still in excellent shape.  I plan on having these for many more years so totally worth the cost.  Stripes + Plaid #fallstyle #layers Stripes + Plaid #rainboots #fallstyle

This may be one of my favorite combos ever!  I mean nothing makes a rainy day bearable like a pair of fun rainboots with your stripes and plaid.  Several styles of Hunter boots are currently marked down and I’ve also gifted these to Jordan in the past so they make a fun gift.
