Queen’s Chronicles

First week after Christmas vacation was evidently a doozy as there are barely any pictures to show for it!!  Our kids didn’t go back to school until Tuesday so I took an extra day off Monday and decided it was the perfect day to tackle Carly Jo’s room.
I have been wanting to move her into one of the bigger bedrooms since Riley is only here sporadically through the year so the typically twice a year purge has actually not happened it a really long time!  We went through every drawer, closet, purse (good gracious the purses!) and filled up several bags of trash and several bags to donate!
I pretty much felt like the monkey when we were done!  It really is shameful how much we can accumulate that we truly do not need.
The result was a fairly organized room and a closet with doors back on!  I’m hoping to repaint sometime this month and then we will add some more shelves and hopefully have a clear desk top for her to work on.   She has definitely outgrown the pink!
I bought this gingerbread kit after Christmas two years ago and we never have gotten around to putting it together.  Carly asked to do it and Dillon was also willing so I decided who says it has to be done before.  If you have never used a glue gun to put the sides together let me tell you that is the way to go!  We tried years ago to use icing and that was an epic fail.
I love seeing them working together and actually having fun!

All finished and one last thing I had to store until next year!
We ate at home every single night this week except Saturday!  I started a “Fat Furnace” nutritional program with a friend through a local gym on Tuesday so I’m motivated to control what I’m putting in my mouth.  Stuffed bell peppers are one of my favorites and I found a new recipe using 1/2 italian sausage and 1/2 ground beef.  Definitely makes it higher in fat/calories but it gave it a nice flavor.  Other than this I will tell you there were a lot of eggs eaten at our house…..like at least 2 dozen!  Lots of protein and low carbs is the only way to burn fat off this 46 year old body.
And look at this cutie!  I got a text on Wednesday afternoon letting me know she was at my house.  Of course my house was a complete disaster and she is notorious for showing up unannounced but we were so happy to have her with us for a few days!
Friday night and Saturday we drove over to Magnolia about an hour away to watch this dude play some hoops!  Even though they only won one and lost two we were impressed with how well they played.  Every game was within 2 points.  I forget how much I love watching basketball!
I really wasn’t joking….we were super low key this week trying to get back on track!
Most exciting this week was seeing my face on another bloggers page!  Sweet Michelle over at Grammie Time has a great series, Connect With, in which she features another blogger each month.  This month she chose me and I feel especially honored!!  You can read my answers to her questions in the post here.
It is going to be a busy week!  We are beginning to gear up for our annual budget at work and the kids are back to fully loaded activities this week plus a special boy is turning 14!!   Wishing you all an awesome week!
