My Joy in Pictures – 10 on the Tenth

·

Today I’m double dipping a bit and joining Simple Purposeful Living for 10 on the 10th to share 10 favorite pictures (HUGE task) of 2018. and heading to The Blended Blog to share what brings me joy.    It just so happens pictures bring so much joy and having them to look back on is super important to me.

I’d like to say no overthinking went into the creation of this post but that would be a total lie!  Choosing 10 pictures is near impossible for me but I’ve done my best.  Here are the pictures which made the cut and a little about why.

Spring Training

I love continuing to watch this kid fight for his dream even when roadblocks get in his way.  This past spring he was invited to big league spring training and I just could not miss the chance to head to West Palm beach to watch him!  Being a professional athlete comes with lots of unknown and changes out of your control.  It’s a big week for him this week and this momma is saying lots of prayers.

Matagorda Bay

Anytime I have a chance to spend some one on one time with one of my kids doing something they love it’s a bonus.  I’m super guilty of not setting aside my “chores” and heading out for a day of fun. Glad I didn’t miss out on this day of fishing!  Both of these guys have a huge love for all things fishing and they are truly just as excited when I catch a fish as they are when they reel one in.

Moms and Daughters #murals #texasart

Oh sweet angel girl.  My last little baby is just growing so stinkin’ fast.  I know it’s just a part of the process but I’m so trying to soak up every little bit of goodness along with the sass.  She still loves hanging out with me even if I annoy the crap out of her with my inability to stay focused.  I just adore this picture from our trip to Lubbock so much and hope she always looks up to me in one way or another.

I love you so much mural #austin #texas

Truly, he loves me so much and believe me I do NOT make it easy to do.  We celebrated 17 years of marriage this year and we have come so far.  There is zero way this man would have been patient enough to drive out of his way and take this picture with me….over and over again….until I got the shots I wanted 10 years ago.

Sequoia National Forest #california

My how this girl amazes me.  She is so strong and wise but also notes her weaknesses but is recognizing they don’t have to be a roadblock.  We had the most amazing time exploring Sequoia National Forest just the two of us.  I can hardly wait for more adventures with her in the years to come!

Taylor Swift Concert

Sometimes when you turn 13 (and your mom has a bestie who is amazing) you get to dress up and go to a Taylor Swift concert.  Sharing this with Carly Jo was so special but it was also such a treat to have my two girls together.  I feel like Taylor Swift music has been somewhat parallel to Jordan’s life as they are about the same age and this concert was just the best to share together.

Nashville

No way could I pick ten pictures without including my trip to Nashville for a blogger meetup with 5 ladies I had NEVER met in real life before!  We now rarely go a day without talking to one another in our group Marco Polo and I really feel blessed to have had the opportunity to connect with them on a deeper level.

Rice University

This picture was a quick after thought as we toured the Rice University campus in November.  I really had’t planned to take one because all Dillon told us was it was too close to home as he had his heart set on another school further away.  I’m sure glad I decided to have someone take our picture because we fell in love with the campus and were sold on the coaching staff.  Dillon committed just before Thanksgiving to continue his academic career and play baseball for Rice!

And yeah, the most amazing time away with all of my babies for the first time since 2009.  Y’all, even if it’s a road trip 50 miles away make time to getaway with your whole crew.  Having some forced family time is good for a momma’s heart and really allows the kids to build their relationships too. We loved Anna Maria Island and brought back so many inside jokes and sweet memories.

Besties

From birthday roadtrips to waving flags welcoming a past president home, these girls are definitely a favorite.  We may not share blood but we share our hearts; the good and the not so pretty.  There is nothing Holly and I wouldn’t do for each other or for one of our kids.

In 2018 I chose the word Enough. Reading through that post again and seeing these pictures I feel like I definitely succeeded.  The crazy this holiday month brings was just about to trick me into believing it wasn’t true so I’m so thankful for this little break on the 10th to remind me I have more than enough and I am enough!

What is bringing you joy this holiday season?
