Long Weekend – The Queen’s Chronicles

Is there really anything better than a long weekend?  At this point in May I’m going to say a nice extended two week vacation would be better!  But….while that was not in the cards, we took the chance to escape the to do list and spend some time enjoying some of our favorite things.  Note, I did not pull out my big camera one single time so excuse the picture quality!

And while the weekend may be over, there are still a TON of sales going on!  If you missed my Friday post you can head over to see my 5 Tips for Shopping Online to be sure you receive happy mail.  Personally I’m skipping the sale and shopping the new Hi Sugarplum collection at Nordstrom!  Cassie’s created an amazing collection with nothing over $70 and the patterns are so precious and already selling out!  She was one of the first bloggers I followed and I’m so thrilled for her.  Note..I’m pear shaped and while Cassie is super petite her style is typically a great one for me.  The entire collection comes in both regular and petite sizes so hurry over and check it out!  Here are a few of the pieces I’m picking up to try!

Now….on to the weekend!

I kicked off my weekend with the most adorable lunch date!  I just love this handsome boy and also love the chance to have him one on one for a little mentoring.  Can you tell by his face the mentoring is his favorite too?

Next up was an unexpected night out with this beautiful girl.  She had an extra ticket for some music at the lake so Keith and I jumped at the chance to join her.

I’d say the sunset was worth the short drive and leaves me wondering why we don’t head out to this little hole in the wall more often.

I needed an outfit picture so she was modeling for me so I could get the lighting right!  This look seems to be a common one I see from my kids!  haha

I love dancing with this guy!  We had so much fun and stayed way later than I dreamed we would.

Saturday morning we slept in but then Keith and Carly headed to grab the boat and I headed in to Katy with Dillon for his baseball practice.  While he was practicing I snuck over to Loft and tried on a few things.  These are a few of my favorites.

I love, love, love the pattern of this tank but ended up leaving it at the store.  I’m wearing a medium and the arm holes just seemed a little big.  There was not a small for me to try but I’m fairly confident it would have been too small on the bottom.  The pattern is so fun and would look great under a cute jacket for work so I may end up ordering and trying with a different bra.

Pants | Tank

I’ve been wanting to try these chinos for awhile.  This was the only color they had in my size (8) and I love the fit.  I’m thinking I may order in yellow while they are still on sale.  I also loved this tank and it was much cuter in person than online but there was only a small in the store so it’s a little snug.  The back of this one is super cute and I think it would be an easy one to dress up with a jacket for work.

Shorts | Tank

Y’all know I love some J. Crew shorts but these Riviera shorts were a great fit.  I would say they ran a little big as I ended up sizing down to a 6 and this was the only color they had in that size.  They have alot more stretch than the J. Crew shorts.  This is the 4″ length which really just seems to be the best for me.

Skirt | Tank

I decided to give this skirt a try and I’m glad I did because it is much cuter on.  The pattern is so fun and POCKETS!  I’m trying a medium.

We headed to my hometown to spend the night with my mom and had a great evening catching up with my brother and his family over dinner.

My boys like to hit the water early and, while I’m not a morning person, this view is so worth it!  The sun was just starting to rise when we hit the water just before 6am.

A short boat ride across the bay heading for “honey hole” which is the spot Keith has deemed “his” and I cannot tell you how irritated he was when another boat slid in right after us.  Evidently they were not using proper fishing etiquette.

My hubby is happiest on the water and I’m pretty sure Dillon is following right in his footsteps.

My first fish just after 7am so not too bad!  I can cast my own line but these boys are sweet enough to bait my hook and coach me from the boat.  They both are genuinely so darn excited when I set the hook and it is adorable.

Taking time out to head to the coast is hard for me.  It’s not that I hate it but I typically choose to stay back and do the million things I feel I need to be doing.  Once I’m on the water I always know it is a good choice.  Sometimes you just have to suck it up and spend some time doing what those closest to you love and it fills you up.

We spent the rest of the afternoon back at my brothers and the kids had a blast hanging with their cousins in the pool.  Myles screamed and cried in terror as Dillon tossed him around the pool but then continued to beg for more!

Monday was full of more swimming for these two!  The boys were up bright and early and headed back to the coast for another day of fishing while my mom and I headed to searching for a new stove for her and some flowers for the cemetery.

I’m not gonna lie, it was a little hard to walk into my house and see the chaos still needing to be addressed late Monday night but I know these memories were necessary.  Getting out of my own way is sometimes the biggest obstacle for me.

Hope you all enjoyed a long weekend full of fun!  My kids have 2 1/2 days remaining of school and they are free for summer.  Here’s to the end of May.
