Birthday Marathon 2014

·
October is a super busy month for birthdays at our house!  My older daughter celebrated on October 6th and we then close it out with 3 birthdays in a row!  January is a great month for snuggling…..just saying.
On Friday the Littles and I made a surprise trip to Fort Worth to take Riley these fabulous cookies for his big 21st birthday.  He plays baseball for TCU and has just started fall practice so we knew his time would be limited on his actual birthday on Saturday.  Aren’t these cookies the cutest?  I’m sure I was way more excited about them than he was.

On Saturday as part of my birthday weekend celebration I really wanted to see what the State Fair of Texas was all about.  I am a native Texan but have never attended the state fair.  The Littles are always up for some spur of the moment
fun.  We took the green rail straight to the gates but not without a little sibling silliness. I love when these two get along like this!

First stop was a photo op with Big Tex and a corny dog from Fletchers.

I do not typically eat corn dogs but I must say these were the best I have ever had.  I contemplated  eating a second before we left!  We stopped at the very first stand we saw and the line was long but next time I will know to head to the back of the park…no lines!
Next up we tried out a few rides.

After devouring a funnel cake so quickly there was no time for a picture, we met up with Aunt Amy to play some games!
And these two scored big….and when I say big I mean blow up chair that you have to carry around the entire park big.
I just love this picture of our shadow….it was a fun day!
We left the park around 5:30 and headed back to Fort Worth to have a birthday dinner at Pappasittas with Riley.  Finally legal!
We made it back to College Station just before midnight and hit the sack immediately.
Sunday was my actual 45th birthday and the boys left for Spring to play baseball while Carly Jo and I headed to church.  Afterwards we had a quick lunch with a mimosa for me and a virgin mimosa for her.
This little bit somehow knows me very well!  Even at 9 she knows my love language is words of affirmation and she definitely scored big with this sweet and funny card!

I actually got to go grocery shopping which may sound like a birthday downer to some but this was seriously an exciting time!  My meal planning has struggled the past several weeks with busy weekends and I was so happy to have my kitchen stocked and ready to go for the week!  I actually know what we are having for dinner every single night and there are plenty of grab and go lunch items for the Littles and Keith.  I even put together their favorite pasta salad!
And then Carly and I ordered takeout sushi for dinner.
Today closed out the birthday marathon as my hubby FINALLY turned 40!!  I have teased him for years saying “are you ever going to be 40” and he has always responded “yep, and when I do you will be halfway to 50!”.  Gotta love a man with a sense of humor.  No place Keith would rather be than out on the water fishing or sitting in a hunting blind.  He was lucky enough to take a fishing trip a few weeks back while he was in Key West for business (darn the life) and I just love seeing him this happy.
Aunt Amy and Mimi took us all to dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse to close out the birthday marathon!
