Fave Outfits 2016

2016 Fashion Wrapup
I always love taking a look back through the year at the outfits I loved most compared to which ones my readers loved most.  While 2015 was all about taking more risks with pattern mixing and getting outside my comfort zone a bit, I feel like 2016 I really have started to learn to use my closet most efficiently.  This year also saw me try a few trends but for the first time realizing not everything is going to be for my shape or my age.  Looking forward to all I’ve learned to put my best foot forward in 2017!  Take a little stroll through the Queen’s Closet for 2016.

January

Winter Style
In January I finally figured out a few ways to wear this herringbone vest and I think this was my favorite!

February

Winter Style
I bundled up with a blanket scarf in February and showed one look 3 ways. Gingham, plaid, these colors, what’s not to love here?  If you are looking for a scarf in similar colors, this plaid scarf is marked down right now to $10!

March

Spring Style
I tried out Trunk Club in March and kept this top which was perfect for a girls night out.  You can read the full review but let me just say there were definitely some kinks as several individuals “signed up” and were never contacted by a consultant.  I have not yet tried the service again.

April

Spring Style
Just a swingin’ through April in what would become my favorite dress style of the year.  I have worn swing dresses all year long and dressed them up for work, down for a hot summer day or paired with boots, jackets & scarves once the temps cooled down.

May

Spring Style
A pop of blue was the perfect way to get May rolling plus I signed up as a Stella & Dot consultant and this striped bag was too cute to pass up!

June

Summer Style
I partnered with a fun group of 40+ ladies for the monthly fashion linkup, Ageless Style, and pulled together this fun summer look.  Who knew stripes on stripes could work?  Our linkup is still going strong and you can join the fun the first Tuesday of each month.

July

Summer Style
Once I confirmed stripes on stripes really could work, I decided to test the waters to be sure leopard really was still a neutral!  Check and check.

August

Summer Style
By August the dog days of summer had really taken hold and it was easy outfits to keep cool.  I love the fun scallop edge on these shorts!

September

Fall Style
Oh how fun it is to have a professional shoot a few pictures here and there!  This teal top was so fun as one of the outfits in my September shoot.

October

Fall Style
Fall colors and a great floral pattern definitely stoled my eye with this dress.  This Kassi dress is seriously like butter and has sold out twice but is currently back in stock in both the black and burgundy at Gray Monroe

November

Fall Style
Obviously my love for black on black that started in January continued to repeat itself.  I just love how easy a few accessories dressed up an otherwise simple base.  This amazing scarf has finally sold out but this aztec pattern has similar colors and is also marked down.

December

Fall Style
Finally, I’m sure you are all tired of seeing this winter jewel tone dress but it has seriously been one of my favorite purchases of the year. That along with the OTK boots!  I have now worn this dress 3 different ways and know it will be a favorite piece through April.  With 6 colors to choose from and most sizes still available in all colors, you can’t go wrong with this dress at the current sale price.
So hard to choose just 12 looks from the Queen’s Closet posts for the year!  I’ve also had so much fun looking back through instagram and the tag #thequeenscloset2016 for so many looks that never make it to the blog but provide inspiration even for me some days!
A special thank you to all of you who come here each week to see what outfits I might pull together. There are definitely weeks when it is easier than others and I so appreciate all of your support and feedback.  I love this space and love the inspiration I gain from seeing the fun outfits other fashion bloggers pull together. Here’s to dressing sassy and classy in 2017!
