Thirsty Thursday + Book Review

Today I’m joining Michelle at Grammie Time for her Party at My Place Thursday linkup where the prompt today is Book Wino.  I’m always up for sharing a bottle of wine and have actually completed a record 4 books since May!
Let’s get sipping first.  This is one of my favorite wines and depending on where I purchase and the age it ranges from $9-$20 a bottle.  That’s right, big spender here.  I’m pretty much a red wine drinker and this one is smooth with just the right hint of berry.
Chasing Sunsets was actually a nice surprising read.  Before we left for our Missouri Roadtrip I was looking through books which were free on my ipad and ran across this one.  I really did love the story line.  It was an easy read and just left me feeling happy.  She is evidently a Christian author so there was some talk about prayer and God in this book which was refreshing.  I was excited to learn there are two more Cedar Key books in the series, Waiting for Sunrise and Slow Moon Rising.  Super cheap on kindle too.

Me Before You is the most emotional book I’ve read in a very long time but well worth the ugly cry.   I still have not seen the movie but can assure you this is a really worth the read.  The characters and the story are so believable and I so loved every word.  I also finished After Youand, while it did not stir my emotions quite the same it would still be high on my list.

Oh how uncomfortable I am with silence but did you know that some countries actually consider it rude to fill every moment with small talk?   I definitely am the queen on opening my mouth when I should be listening instead.  More often than not I can be found spouting off words when I’m ticked off.  Here are just a few of Karen’s quotes that spoke directly to me!  Oh how my mouth has caused so much pain.

“Our words are powerful, and they have consequences.”

“Don’t say something permanently painful just because you are temporarily ticked off.”

“My words, sometimes even my lack of words, have caused me much pain over the years. It hasn’t always been that I have gossiped or lied. Sometimes I just talk too much. Or I repeated the words of others, which I should not have. Other times I have tried to say the right thing, but it came out the wrong way. Or I have said the right thing but in the presence of the wrong people or at the wrong time. There was just no shortage to the ways I could misuse my mouth.”

“We might have to choose to let go of the need to prove our point, choosing instead to do the right thing: to impart grace and deal with the other person in love and with utmost patience.”

I didn’t remember until I began reading this book that I read another of Karen’s books, Let. It. Go., years ago.  I am kind of thinking I may need to reread it!
