10 Must Haves for Fall

Fall is my favorite, but then I think I say that about every season!  I think here in Texas we wait for fall the very longest and just as summer is about to break us the cool crisp fall air finally arrives and gives a little boost.  Today I’m joining Erin from Simple Purposeful Living to share 10 Must Haves for Fall!

One | Soup

Yep, that’s right food is always at the front of my mind and soup would definitely be on my list.  Chili, Chicken Noodle (or zoodle) Soup, Sausage Tortellini Soup or just a creamy bowl of tomato make me a happy girl.  I have never blogged the recipe for mine but it’s so super easy and quick using a rotisserie chicken.

Two | Pumpkin

So, I’ll be honest, you will never see me drinking a PSL from Starbucks because I do not like sweet coffee but anything else with a pumpkin flavor and I’m in.  Pumpkin flavored Life cereal is something I know I’ll pick up soon and enjoy a bowl on Saturday mornings until it’s gone. We almost always make these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins to share with friends.

Three | Birthday Parties

You mean that’s not on your list?  Well for us fall means celebrating as 5 of the 6 of us will turn one year older.  The most exciting part?  All 6 of us will actually be together in the fall more than any other time of year and that makes my momma heart so happy. So yes, fall is my favorite!

Four | Fall Decor

Fall decor is a must around here.  Pulling out the pumpkins and sprinkling fall color through the house is a favorite.  Every year I say I’m going to keep it simple and every year I prove myself wrong!  Last year I did not do much as we were doing some remodeling and having the house painted so I’m excited to pull out a few touches soon.

Five | Fall Closet

Even though the temps haven’t changed much, swapping out my closet and pulling the layers to the front while moving the super summery items to the back is a must.  Light layers in warmer fall colors like olive, burgundy and mustard are my favorite way to begin the transition to fall.  A great lightweight scarf in an animal print will surely make the cut as well.  The sandals and wedges will make room for booties and loafers and convert some easy work looks from summer to fall.  I feel like these pieces can complete any fall closet!

Six | Fall Activities

Our two favorite fall activities are picking the perfect pumpkin and finding our way out of a corn maze.  These two have become a tradition and even though it seems I have fewer interested parties every year, these activities are my favorite. Hoping we can get a date on the calendar with our besties for some fall fun!  I’d also love to head back to the Texas State fair for a day.

Seven | Cozy

We may have to crank down the A/C most days to achieve it, but fall just makes me long for cozy.  Pulling out our favorite cozy throw blanket and drinking hot tea can be my favorite way to unwind each day.  Add in a few rainy weekends and some good books or tv and I’m a happy girl.

Eight |  Fall Smells

My boys would probably disagree, but I love the smells in the fall and have begin burning my favorite pumpkin scents September 1st (if not sooner).  My favorites seem to continue to be the Bath & Body Works 3 wick candles in pumpkin pecan waffle and pumpkin coconut but I’m dying to try some of the other fall smells.

Nine | College Football

Whether we are headed to watch the Aggies live or sitting at home, college football is a must in the fall.  We love the chance to get together with friends for some fun tailgating food and watch a great game.  PS….if you love college football, Kyle Field should be on your bucket list!

Ten | Family Pictures

Oh yes, my family will grown just a tad but they will all put smiles on their faces and show up for a family picture every fall.  We typically hire a professional to take our pictures every other year and this is it!  It is a teeny bit stressful to pull together with our schedules but always 100% worth it to see the results.  Capturing all of us together annually has become somewhat of a tradition and being able to see the changes in a still shot makes mom’s heart happy! So grab a camera, find a backroad and try not to stress too much about your outfits.  You can read my other tips for a how to inspire beautiful family photos.   Any guesses on who will have changed the most since last year?
