The Queen’s Chronicles
I will pretty much do just about anything these days to spend a little extra time with this kid so I mad and extra trip back to “town” to take him for Bahama Bucks.
Carly and Holden attended an art camp all week and when I picked them up on day one they were ready to show off the rocks they painted.
Tuesday I showed up to a meeting and it appears we all got the memo on the black & white day! My hair was a hot mess but I knew my hairdresser would have me all fixed up later in the day!
Ahhh…always love a fresh cut and color! This past year I had some weird things happening with my color but I think we finally got back on track.
You know your families are close when you bestie not only offers to take your kid to volunteer, pick the other up from art but then also invites your mom to join the group for lunch when you are not available! All that and she even got a picture! Wednesday night I had some time alone with my oldest. It started off a little rocky as we kind of had a little spat on the way but we ended up kind of glad it happened as we ended up working through it all and probably grew our relationship a bit! I can definitely come across pretty callous at times and dismissive of other peoples feelings and I need to work on that!
I am super impressed with the first piece of art Carly Jo painted this week. I was too lazy to get up to take a picture of the second! She did such a great job and the teacher is so sweet. I’m hoping to have her in a class one afternoon a week this fall.
Carly Jo and I headed out to grab a few items we still needed before packing for camp and grabbed lunch at Grub Burger. If you are in the Houston or Dallas area definitely look them up, so delish! I love the Jive Turkey cut the cheese and aioli mayo on the side and I even skipped the bun but it was hard since they are homemade and so soft and yummy!
Once the kids hit 7th grade they actually go to a site at Lake Travis instead of New Braunfels and these boys rode the shuttle so we would not have to make the one hour trip for a second drop off.
All the cabins are named after small Texas towns and it is always so fun to find out which one they are assigned.
The theme is also always a favorite thing to discover. This year is Final Score – He Won, We Win. One of my kids fave things they talk about at camp is never to waste fun and they even have their own word, Fuagnem or fired up and going nuts every minute. I just know they are going to have so much fun all week!
So here we are, alone for the week! Too bad we both have to go to work. I’m sure he would die if he saw the list of projects around the house I would like to knock out in the evenings. Shhhh….don’t tell!
Hope you all enjoy the last week of July! Yes, that’s right, another month is almost over!! Hope you are all staying cool and enjoying life. Have a super week!
Don’t forget to come back here on Tuesday and link up your favorite summer indulgence as Katy and I host Spiel the Beans with the Queens!

I've never heard of Grub Burger, but I'm definitely looking up the locations. Looks yummy! I love Carly's painting and sweet message to you.

Enjoy your week alone! I totally want to go to art camp and that message on the painting. SO sweet.
Right? After seeing what Carly did I'm so convinced I could gain a thing or two from camp!!

Aww those booties were too cute – I'm sure they will be there if you want to grab them!! Loving your polish color too!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
What a great week! Thanks for the tip on Grub burger. We were going to go one time, and they were closed down due to some issue in the kitchen. We snagged a couple of coupons for free shakes because of the mixup, so we need to go back and give it a try. Looks like the kids will have an absolute blast at camp.
Oh my goodness a week without kids?! Take the week off and enjoy, hehe. Glad you worked things out with your oldest, always good to just talk it out and get things out in the open instead of bottling it up, like I tend to do. Those booties…love them! And your purple nail polish 🙂
Wow you have been busy! Enjoy the week with no kids. I am loving your Happy Camper shirt!
I feel your pain on the spat…we just went on a trip and by the time we got off the plane I was ready to put my daughter on a plane to send her straight to college (now I really have to put on one in 2 1/2 weeks and come home without her 🙁 ) Those booties from TJ's are too cute, and I need to find some. Hope they are still there when you go back!!!
Even though Carly and Holden aren't side by side, I'm confident they won't be far apart! And, Carly's painting is awesome!!! So glad they got to go to that camp together. Mrs. Lasagna is the best!
omg Carly's got some mad skills!! Seriously, I'm in my 30s drawing stick people and she's painting that?! not fair lol
so great to have friends that are like family.
LOVE your new 'do!! Looking good pretty lady and enjoy your week with your man!!
