The Queen’s Chronicles – Sweet Weekend

Happy Monday! We had a really sweet weekend full of good times with friends and family.

No pictures to show, but Keith and I took off work Friday and headed to Houston to watch an intra-squad scrimmage at Rice. It was a perfect day to watch baseball and did my heart so good to see Dillon pitch 4 innings. It’s a little weird to see baseball players on the field in masks and I’m not a huge fan of having to wear a mask in the stands but after missing baseball since March we will take it!

We then rushed back to a rehearsal dinner (like literally changed clothes in the car in the parking lot) for one of my dearest friend’s son. Y’all, the details were so beautiful. Her husband actually built the farmhouse tables that were used for the rehearsal dinner and also for the head table the night of the wedding. They were gorgeous and the farmhouse chic decor was just perfect.

Of course it didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect and any time you have twinkle lights and candles it just feels so warm and inviting.

Carly Jo will have homecoming on November 21st so we spent the majority of Saturday searching for a dress. This is one of two she made it home with. Sister is growing up so fast! I’m afraid she’s going to tower over her date in those shoes but she was insistent they were the ones!

Then it was time to fancy up a bit and head to the wedding! When Keith and I were dating he always wore a cowboy hat but it’s been years since I’ve seen him put it on. When he came walking out my heart did a little flip!

I literally almost ruined all my makeup when my friend Kelli came walking down the aisle. We met when I was 24 and she was 21 y’all. It has been such a beautiful friendship and such a joy to watch her boys grow into men. She looked stunning and just so full of joy!

Weddings make the very best date nights! Free food, lots of dancing and just a reminder what a blessing marriage is and how worth it is to fight for. We had the best time!

A few weeks back I decided I needed a designated time on the calendar each week for family dinner so Sundays at 5:30 is our time. To make it a little more fun, I’ve decided to have a theme each week with some sort of bar. Last week was pasta and this week was chilli.

When I was growing up, my dad’s side of the family always had hominy in the chilli and I was there for it. My kids had never had this before so I decided to toss it out there. We had oyster crackers, white rice, cornbread, fritos, cilantro, cheese and onions and it was dang good.

I asked Dillon to take a few pictures of me & Haisley and later found this on my camera! Bless, he comes home almost every weekend because they are so locked down at school there is really nothing else to do. As much as I really wish he was having a college experience, I am glad he’s so close to home and can come get loved on a bit.

And speaking of loving on people, y’all we just can’t get enough of this chunk. Her new hair is coming in and I think she’s going to be a little blondie like her dad was. She is a happy girl as long as she can see her momma! She has brought so much joy into our lives this year for sure.

Heading into the week with a full heart! Wishing you all the best.
