Friday Favorites – 04.16.21

Good morning and happy Friday! I’m waking up after a really deep and restful nights sleep and feeling pretty good about that. Yesterday, I had my second covid vaccine and was crossing my fingers for no reaction. My arm is pretty sore at the injection site which is exactly what happened with the first shot. My neck was also been feeling a little stiff so I took some Tylenol before bed and it seems to have done the trick.

Today I thought I would share a true random Friday favorites of some new things I’ve been loving and maybe a fave person too!

Country Covers #spotify
Country Covers

This Spotify playlist was on my “for you” section this week and I cannot get enough of it. The entire playlist is full of artist singing other hit songs with their own twist. So many favorites and it was great to hear some of my old favorites like Chicagos Hard to Say I’m Sorry pulled together in a different way.

While I’m not a huge proponent of making this a daily habit, there are times when grabbing a quick protein drink just works better for our busy schedules. They also make it easy and quick in between school and dance for Carly. My coworkers have been trying Fa!rlife Protein Shakes out for a few months so I decided to grab a pack on my last Sams visit and we were fast fans. It is not as heavy as the Premiere Protein shake and tast the most like chocolate milk I’ve found. This is the only flavor I’ve tried and based on my coworkers review it may be the only one. Apparently the caramel is NOT a win.

The Next Right Thing

Y’all know it’s no secret that I LOVE Emily’s podcast, The Next Right Thing. If you struggle with “decision fatigue” or are in my words you overthink everything, her podcast is just such a hopeful listen. They are short, 15-20 minutes, and always hold some little nugget I can takeaway. The other thing I really love about her podcast is she shares the full trasnscripts online! I’m not an auditory learner so while I love to listen, I don’t often retain. Having the ability to swing over and grab the transcript so I can pull out the important takeaways allows me to listen fully and be present to hear what she has to say without worrying I’m going to miss something.

Anyway, this weeks episode asked the question is it time to quit your job? As someone who is so close to retiring from one job and considering what it is I really want to do with the rest of my life it was a timely listen. I really think no matter what your role is, this one could give you some perspective. Sometimes we think quitting something is the only way and that is just not always true! Emily’s book, The Next Right Thing, is also a free read on Kindle Unlimited.

Have you ever shopped a Noonday party? I truly love the Noonday items and love knowing that my purchase is helping someone sustain a better life. Recently I shopped a party when a friend was hosting a party and donating the proceeds to one of our schools food pantries. I snagged these bracelets and I’m obsessed with them! The tiled bracelets are darling on their own but I also bought a set of 3 of the glass bead bracelets from the Bracelet Bar. Everything I have ever ordered has impressed me and the quality always is better in person than the picture. So yes, they are a little pricier than Amazon but I love that I’m supporting a local momma who loves her business and also supporting artisans across the globe.

Brunch #statefare

Lastly, I’m just really feeling this guy as a favorite this week! It’s crazy how we have spent so much of our marriage longing for a chance to be alone and now somehow, rather abrubtly I might add, we seem to be alone alot! With only Little Miss Social left at home, there are so many weekends and even weeknights when it’s just the two of us and I’m happy to report we have figured out we still really do like spending time together! And y’all, we have stuff to talk about besides just our kids! Last weekend we had an easy brunch at a new to us restaurant in Houston, State Fare, and it was delicious.

Now Carly & I are prepping to head to Austin for a dance competition today. Initially it was suppose to be Saturday but with all the modifications for Covid our studio was moved to Friday. The bonus is we will now be home tonight and able to have a weekend to catch up at home on ALL THE THINGS like laundry and yard work.

What have you been loving this week? Wishing you a super weekend!
