So prior to beginning my blog reading obsession just over a year ago, I had never heard of Buffalo Plaid. I mean, I’m sure I had seen the pattern but I definitely did not know it had it’s very own distinction in the plaid world. You can find a fun link that gives a little history on the origin on Buffalo Plaid here.
I purchased my first buffalo plaid in October and I absolutely loved it…but….I had absolutely no clue what to do with it. I tried it several different ways and just couldn’t get the hang of it. I’ve been determined in the new year to shop my own closet, however, and have really been working hard to pull new outfits together. Who knew that buffalo plaid would rise to the occasion and help me out in such a big way!
First up is casual Friday at the office. I needed to attend a meeting during the afternoon and while jeans are allowed on Friday’s, I needed a little something to dress them up. Pairing this shirt with a blazer was perfect.
After work I joined a friend for wine on her back porch and ditched the blazer for this herringbone vest. Truly I have had this vest since before Thanksgiving and this was my first time to wear it! Um..why??
Back to work and I mixed the buffalo plaid top with a lightweight Gap sweater and my red vest, skirt and boots. Seriously y’all I did a little happy dance at this combo as I really did think outside the box.
After work it was raining and time to run kids around a bit and then head to date night. I swapped my skirt for my black pointe pants and my black boots for my hunter boots and I was ready for fun. Picture #3 is what happens when your 9 year old wants to take your blog pics!
In looking back through pictures I found I wore the buffalo plaid with a plain charcoal sweater in January as well. Obviously we have had a lot of rain lately!
All of these looks have given me lots of opportunities to carry my Kate Spade purse which I love!
Many of the items I’m wearing are either older or sold out but here are some shopping options for you!
