5 Ways to Share Love for Valentines Day

Valentines Day is just around the corner! To me it is a fun and easy holiday to celebrate and show a little extra love to those around me. There have been years when I’ve gone all out and left 14 days of treats with cheesy love inspired notes and there have been others when pulling together a heart shaped waffle was the best I could do! Here are five ways to celebrate Valentines day and spread some a little love.

Be traditional and plan a date night. Yes, Valentines night on a Friday could be insane but with a little planning ahead it could be add a little kindle to your flame! Plenty of restaurants accept reservations and these days reserving tickets to a movie insures you won’t be caught last minute without a seat. Dress up or go casual but spend some time holding hands, giving uninterupted attention and do something you love together.

Host a Galentines get together to celebrate your girlfriends. I’ll be heading to a brunch on Saturday where my friend Jen has created a favorite things party theme. Getting together with girlfriends is always good for the soul and even better when you know there will be yummy food and a little surprise (or 3) coming home with you!

No matter how long you’ve been married or in a relationship, it can still be fun to do something special for Valentines Day. I remember early in our marriage when we didn’t have the extra money to spend on a nice date night and the hassle of finding a sitter was jut a little more than we had the energy to handle. How fun would it be to pick out a young couple to surprise with a gift card or some cold hard cash so they could hire a sitter and spend some time nurturing their relationship for just a few sweet hours?

Being single on Valentines day can suck. I remember how seeing the deliveries of flowers always stabbed my heart a little in my single days. Is there a sweet single you know who has had a particularly tough time lately? Maybe it’s a single mom or just a precious young woman who has found herself “still single” but surrounded by engaged friends? Create a special delivery of flowers or just a sweet note and a Starbucks card to remind her she is loved, thought of and worthy.

With Valentines Day falling on a Friday this year it is the perfect chance to share the love with the entire family with a famiy night in! Order a heart shaped pizza or create a fun charcuterie board like this on Lindsay showed off recently. Breakfast for dinner would be a great treat for a Friday night and having this new little heart shaped waffle maker would make it super easy. Pick a family favorite to play for game night or get snuggled up on the couch and force the guys to watch a love story.

You will probably not be surprised to know we will be celebrating this year at the baseball field! So I’m thinking a little diamonds are a girls best friend theme might be nice. Not sure Keith is on the same page! Regardless, I will definitely try to find some fun ways to love on my people. What is your favorite way to celebrate Valentines Day?
