Show & Tell Tuesday – Personal Style
I love the look of a great pair of jeans or black pants with a crisp white shirt but honestly sometimes I end up feeling like a waitress for some reason. My style calls for a little color with a great accessory like this floral scarf and really stepping out of the box by adding the always neutral leopard shoe.
A great little striped dress is always perfect and mixing floral and stripes always seems to work. Top this off with some layers for added interest in a fun color.
Dresses can be so easy and I love finding one in a fun pattern. The trick is picking a pattern you can feel yourself in that also does not accentuate any flaws. I think adding a great pair of shoes to pick up a color in the dress always helps to balance things out. Flats are not typically my go to but in the past year I have been grabbing them more and more.
Layers….I really do love layers the older I get. I use to think adding layers just made me look heavier but in fact they can definitely hide some flaws and really give an outfit some character. I try to keep my jewelry fairly simple as well but longer necklaces have really been my jam the past few years.
Pattern mixing is kind of tricky at first but once I got rolling with this it became a quick fave. Stripes and animal print is definitey another favorite and see how this necklace just gives the right amount of punch to this outfit.
Color…we all have our favorites and we know when we wear them and others comment they are “our” color. Know your colors and buy solids that work for you. Adding a simple accessory is all you need to bring a great color to life. Leopard is apparently my fave to add!
Because really….I have NEVER worn this color that someone didn’t tell me it was perfect for me. Again….a long necklace and some leopard shoes and bam…a perfect combo.
Maxis this time of year are the perfect style for me. They work for the office, the weekend, a girls night or just a day around town. Always flattering, always easy to pop a jacket over and always good to cover up legs that aren’t ready to show off! Layers + stripes + leopard wedges + long necklace…..seems to defintiely be my style and I really do feel totally myself when I’m dressed like this!
I’m also all for wearing black anytime I want to feel a little slimmer but still keep it classy. Black always makes me feel, well, hot.
A great pair of heels is really my jam. I hated being tall when I was younger and now I can’t get tall enough! Seriously, when I wear flats at work people look at me funny.
I struggle with button downs because I’m super short waisted and, well, my waist is probably not one of the areas I want to highlight. When I discovered popover shirts I felt like a whole new world had been opened up for me. The style of a button down but a fit that can be worn untucked without looking frumpy. Yes…please!

Love your sense of style. Now I feel the need to get some leopard shoes. And yeah, I love to layer as well!
I love all the fun colors you wear! I don't have a trendy body either, so basics are a staple for me too!

I don't own wedges and I don't own a single maxi dress.
You don't consider yourself stylish?! You have no idea how much I would LOVE to go shopping with you. Your are by far one of the most stylish bloggers I know friend and ALWAYS look so cute and put together.
I'm with Beth, what? You don't consider yourself stylish…I think you are the epitome of stylish lady! I can't even pick a favorite outfit, each time I scrolled own I thought, no that's my favorite 🙂 And I love that you have your outfit selfies down…I'm still working on that one 🙂
You've got great style! 🙂 I'm with you on the white tops and black pants!! That's what I wore when I worked as a waitress at the elks lodge in my early 20's! Lol!!
Jaymie
I always love what you wear! And you are so the layer Queen!
I LOVE layers too. I also love the solid purple with the white jacket over. You look great and you definitely rock your style!
I need your leopard shoes! So cute! And love how you style your military jacket! Your outfits are perfect 🙂
Caitlin I seriously never knew how much I needed leopard shoes! Hope you are having a great week.
Thank you Miss Molly! Hope you are having a super week.
I'm pretty sure the older I get the more I need layers to hide the tire. 🙂
Right Jaymie? I see other people wearing black and white and it looks cute but I always feel silly.
Thank you Sarah! If you saw how many selfies it takes me to get ONE great one you would crack up.
But you still always look cute!
We could have so much fun Beth! And thank you…..that is a huge compliment.
I have tried and failed so many times to wear trendy clothes and this mom figure just refuses.
Sarita I never thought I would wear leopard shoes much and now I find myself reaching for them all the time!
LOL, life of a blogger, where you take copious amounts of pictures and showcase 1.
So many Fabulous looks, Shelly! I love all of the pattern mixing and fun colors. I couldn't agree more about wearing things you feel great in, otherwise, it is not going to work. Have a wonderful weekend!
I love your outfits! Love the good variety of colors, patterns and styles!

My style is always evolving and changing. I wouldn't be able to define it in one, to or even five words. If you stop by today and see today's post, you will know what I mean lol. Shellie honey you are STYLISH and one gorgeous and tall woman too. How tall are you? I love every single outfit. You rock floral and leopard and I agree leopard is a neutral. Every single outfit is great and I love all of your shoes especially those fun and edgy black+white block sandals. =)
I am talking pretty dresses and skirts for Spring, in today's post too. Come check it out. =)

And I would love for you to linkup with me tomorrow and share your latest style posts with my readers. Thanks, Ada. =)
I just love a good popover! I'm really short waisted so button downs are hard for me and often don't look good tucked in. The popover gives me the look I want and still looks perfect untucked!
Thanks so much for hosting a fun linkup Monica!
Thank you Abby!
Isn't it so true? I really do feel like my 40's have been the best for me fashion wise. May have to do with the fact that I no longer worry about trying to "fit in". 🙂
Haha…Ada I always love your comments! I am only 5'7"….so not super tall but definitely above average especially since I almost always wear heels.
