What’s Up Wednesday {July}

·
Today I’m linking up with Shay, Mel & Sheaffer for this months What’s Up Wednesday!  The questions are in green so check it out and join the fun.

What We’re Eating This Week

The kids are gone to camp which so far has meant no cooking for me! Every single night this week I have something on my calendar.
Monday – GNO with these beauties!  My friend Ginny was in town from Cali and we dined on some Italian.
Tuesday was a PTO social to meet our new board members at Smitty K’s which is a fun little burger joint with yummy sweet potato fries.  I didn’t try it but mac & cheese was also available to add to your burger!
Wednesday we have an office lunch at Amico Naive for more Italian.
Wednesday night I have another GNO with a few other friends.
So basically, I’m eating TOO MUCH but I’m not having to plan dinners so it’s a nice break.

What I’m Reminiscing About

My kids left for camp on Sunday so the last week I’ve been looking through the pictures from prior years at camp as they pop up on my Timehop!  This is Dillon’s 6th year at T Bar M and Carly’s 3rd.

What I’m Loving

Timehop!!  If you are not using this app yet it is probably one of my very favorite things right now. Every day I look forward to seeing what was going on in years past and this week these two pictures popped up from 8 years ago.  I mean….just look at my babies!  I can’t even…be still my heart.

My girls when Jordan was still under my roof and my sweet baby Carly!

And Riley was about the age Dillon is now in this picture.  8 years y’all…it goes so quick!

I’m also loving the pictures we receive from camp each day.  It’s so fun looking through and trying to catch a peek at the kids having fun.

What We’ve Been Up To

Really we have had a fairly laid back July.  The boys have gotten to spend two Saturdays on the water which has meant lots of fresh fish.

Carly spent a week at my mom’s and had some cousin time.

And Keith and I have managed to make a little time for each other even though we have both had a crazy month at the office.

What I’m Working On

Right now I’m working on the budget at work!  Also making a list of things that I don’t really want to do but really would like to have checked off before school starts.

What I’m Excited About

I have some vacation days still available in August and as soon as the budget is tied down I’m totally taking a long weekend or maybe two and taking the kids for some fun.  Hoping we will make it to the beach for a day and possibly a river float.

What I’m Watching/Reading

I’m currently reading Erin Hildebrands book The Rumor and really loving it!

What I’m Listening To

My kids are gone to camp and I’m not going to lie my music has been geared towards songs that remind me of Keith.  Some good country music that makes me feel like I can hardly wait to get home to see him!  (TMI…sorry not sorry)

What I’m Wearing

All my summer clothes!  I have been loving floral patterns this summer and anything lightweight has been a plus.  We really seemed to have a mild Texas summer up until about 3 weeks ago and now just the walk to my car works up a sweat!  My hair has been a hot mess with all the humidity too.
Loving anything I can find to wear my floral wedges with!  I love this sweet dress from Ann Taylor and it is currently an extra 50% off the markdown price.

Of course this sundress from Old Navy has been on repeat since I purchased last month.  Carly actually took hers to camp to use for a swim cover up.

And I’m all over mixing patterns these days!  Just a short year ago this would have never crossed my mind.

What I’m Doing this Weekend

I’m super excited about this weekend! Our anniversary is on August 3rd and it always seems to coincide closely with the kids camp pickup.  Since Keith works in the Austin area I typically head up and we celebrate our anniversary before we get the kids back.  Last year we stayed at the Domain and had a fun date at Top Golf.
This year I am heading up on Thursday night and I am so excited to have a lunch date with a friend I haven’t seen in years on Friday!  I’ve left the anniversary date night up to Keith so we will see what he comes up with.
And then….as if that is not fabulous enough….we will be staying in Austin along with our friends the McB’s for the remainder of the weekend!  We {Holly} found this little hotel, Lone Star Court, in the Domain area and it looked too interesting to pass up.
We will let you know how it turns out!  The kids will be exhausted from their fun at camp so I’m sure Saturday we will rest and spend some time at the pool and then head to dinner and hopefully Top Golf. On Sunday we are hoping to take a little excursion…but it’s a secret…only because we aren’t 100% sure it will work out.  You can follow along on Instagram as I’m sure there will be lots of posts!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

Y’all, August 1st I will celebrate my 1st Blogiversary!  I cannot believe I have been sharing my life here for one year.  It has been so much fun and I have learned tons but still have so much more to learn.  This community is full of amazing people and I am so excited I have even met a few in person.  I’m looking forward to sitting down and writing a few goals for myself as to how I would like to see this little space of mine continue in my 2nd year!  Thanks to all of you who have been reading, commenting and supporting me.

What Else is New

Lots of “new” items have been arriving at my house the last few weeks and I’m sure my husband thinks I’ve treated the Nordstrom sale as my own personal anniversary sale.  I really scored big on shoes and keep telling myself I can’t possibly keep them all but then I inject some girl math!  Girl math you ask?  Why yes, the more shoes I have the less each pair gets worn which = longer lasting shoes for your money!  Right?  Right!  At this rate I will not have to purchase new shoes for the next 3 years.  You can read my full review of these items here!

What Will You Miss Most About Summer

I will miss the laziness of it all. There was a time when I thrived on a very scheduled life but the past few years it has just been so crazy and honestly the only schedule we usually have is an interrupted one.  There just always seems to be something thrown in that I’m not expecting.  Summer has been so nice to just take my time in the morning and not have a huge agenda of things to do!
Hope you are all having a lazy summer with lots of time with those you love!
