The Queen’s Chronicles

I am always looking for a fun quote and perfect picture for these weekly posts and this one came from something I found on Carly’s ipad.  Somehow I have shared all of the pictures from all our devices with my Mac and it was a sweet surprise to find a few photos of sunflowers she saved, more than likely because they are her Mimi’s favorite flower, as well as this sweet quote.  I love that she still believes in dreaming big!
Here’s a look at what we have been up to this past week!

I will pretty much do just about anything these days to spend a little extra time with this kid so I mad and extra trip back to “town” to take him for Bahama Bucks.

Carly and Holden attended an art camp all week and when I picked them up on day one they were ready to show off the rocks they painted.

Tuesday I showed up to a meeting and it appears we all got the memo on the black & white day!  My hair was a hot mess but I knew my hairdresser would have me all fixed up later in the day!

Ahhh…always love a fresh cut and color!  This past year I had some weird things happening with my color but I think we finally got back on track.

A little pottery project completed and all smiles!
You know your families are close when you bestie not only offers to take your kid to volunteer, pick the other up from art but then also invites your mom to join the group for lunch when you are not available!  All that and she even got a picture!

Wednesday night I had some time alone with my oldest.  It started off a little rocky as we kind of had a little spat on the way but we ended up kind of glad it happened as we ended up working through it all and probably grew our relationship a bit!  I can definitely come across pretty callous at times and dismissive of other peoples feelings and I need to work on that!

My fave salad was no longer on the menu but thank goodness the kitchen still knew how to make it! Bonus is having your meal picked up by a work colleague!  Such a thoughtful gesture by someone who I would work my tail off for with zero perks because he just that kind of stand up guy.
Grabbed these cuties on Friday night and headed to see Finding Dory!  I’m so glad we finally made it to see it.  I mean baby Dory was so stinking cute!  Little memory…Finding Nemo came out when I was pregnant with Carly and Dillon wanted us to name her Dory.

I am super impressed with the first piece of art Carly Jo painted this week.  I was too lazy to get up to take a picture of the second!  She did such a great job and the teacher is so sweet.  I’m hoping to have her in a class one afternoon a week this fall.

I mean….how could I not after finding this super sweet message written on the bottom of the picture she so sweetly placed on my nightstand.  She’s so funny, she never wants me to see anything she is doing until it is 100% complete.
The boys left on Friday morning to head to Matagorda to fish a memorial tournament.  This is the 10th year Keith has fished in this tourney!  They have a big dinner the night before and Dillon won a kayak in the raffle!  He was super excited as that was on his list for this coming Christmas.

Carly Jo and I headed out to grab a few items we still needed before packing for camp and grabbed lunch at Grub Burger.  If you are in the Houston or Dallas area definitely look them up, so delish!  I love the Jive Turkey cut the cheese and aioli mayo on the side and I even skipped the bun but it was hard since they are homemade and so soft and yummy!

They have the best shakes too and this girl had the Nutella.  I’ve heard the adult shakes are really fabulous but I have never been willing to spare the calories.
Based on the response to this picture on Instagram, I totally should have grabbed these shoes!!  I never, ever find a dang thing at TJ Maxx but these Vince Camuto booties are adorable and so comfortable and $60.  I just could not justify even at that price with my closet full of booties but now I have to make a return there so we will see if I can resist them twice!!
That brings us to today and my kidos favorite time of summer!  This is Dillon’s 7th year and Carly Jo’s 4th to attend T Bar M and my only complaint ever is it is not long enough.
We always stop to eat lunch in Gruene at the Gristmill with other families and this was the smallest I think we may have had.
I just love a good family picture at dropoff and all my crew cooperated with no complaining!

Once the kids hit 7th grade they actually go to a site at Lake Travis instead of New Braunfels and these boys rode the shuttle so we would not have to make the one hour trip for a second drop off.

All the cabins are named after small Texas towns and it is always so fun to find out which one they are assigned.

The theme is also always a favorite thing to discover.  This year is Final Score – He Won, We Win. One of my kids fave things they talk about at camp is never to waste fun and they even have their own word, Fuagnem or fired up and going nuts every minute.  I just know they are going to have so much fun all week!

Holden’s friend Kenzie is also in their cabin this year and this is the first time Holden and Carly will not be bunked next to one another but everyone was all smiles and ready for us to be on our way!

So here we are, alone for the week!  Too bad we both have to go to work.  I’m sure he would die if he saw the list of projects around the house I would like to knock out in the evenings.  Shhhh….don’t tell!

Hope you all enjoy the last week of July!  Yes, that’s right, another month is almost over!! Hope you are all staying cool and enjoying life.  Have a super week!
