The Queen’s Chronicles – The One with the Food

It’s been a few weeks since a little life lately post so here is a bit of what we have been up to!  This picture is from the Thrive Creative Conference I attended last weekend in The Woodlands.  So much inspiration that I still haven’t finished absorbing!  I hope to share a little more about the content soon as it was very helpful but also just very inspiring.  I’m positive I learned a few things and met a few new Texas girls and some sweet girls from Indiana who let me tag along to dinner.  As soon as I can get myself together I will stop hogging them all and share.  Would you believe this was my very first pink donut with sprinkles?

After being gone all weekend this guy was ready to get out of the house for a bit so we headed to dinner with the kids.  I’m so thankful he didn’t mind all the dad duty alone which included lots of baseball.

When we got home we taught the kids how to play spades.  We brought home cards from Vegas for each of them and Carly Jo has been begging to play.  We had SO much fun!  Every time I make time for something like this I kick myself for not doing it more often.

I definitely was feeling like the week was off to an awesome start when I already had 5k steps by the time I got to the office! I’m proud to say I actually made it to the gym Monday/Wednesday/Friday for a change and made sure to hit 10K steps the other two days.  March is here and things are getting real around here….lots of work to do.

Y’all, having my VHS tapes transferred to digital has been on my project list for years.  I am so incredible impressed thus far with the Legacybox service.  I continue to receive emails like this above letting me know where they are at in the process.  I can hardly wait for my box to get here!  I loved it so much I went ahead and ordered another box which will completely tackle the rest of our tape conversion.  Plus….I’m really crossing my fingers my mom can locate a few cassette tapes she had of my grandfather telling all the little stories he use to tell us when I was a young.

This shift dress is one of my favorites.  Escapada is a brand that is a perfect weight for Texas and the colors and patterns are always so fun.

I also shared my Stitch Fix on Thursday because, y’all, it was the best fix I’ve ever received!

Thursday night we gathered for a “fancy” dinner with this kid before he headed off to spring training. We have loved having him around so much as he is always entertaining.  Even my mom had to drive up for the occasion.

I seriously just think he is so stinkin’ handsome y’all!!

This picture doesn’t do it much justice but this is one of my favorite meals at Christopher’s World Grille.  The Zihuatenajo Snapper and all these veggies.
As if there was any question, I had a very happy plate when all was said and done!

Friday night I pulled out the instant pot again and made this jambalaya from the recipe Mel shared last week.  It was a little spicy but so delish!

Then I snuggled on the couch with this guy.  I really never knew I could love a dog so much!

After watching this kid play baseball in The Woodlands we headed into Houston to Minute Maid Park to watch TCU take on the Aggies.  I’m not gonna lie, I was not sad to only be a spectator and not a mom for this game!
The memories of watching this kid play college ball are still some of my favorites though! Hoping one day we will see him play at Minute Maid with another team!
I was able to snag a great rate at the new Marriott Marquis and after seeing the view of the pool from above I so want to head back this summer!  The Texas is a lazy river!!  So much fun.
Getting these three to cooperate is never easy!  Poor sissy was home sick this weekend and we were missing her.  Surely she would have snapped them right into shape!
Riley suggested we brunch at the Liberty Kitchen and I’m so glad he did!  Y’all, this food was so dang good.  Pork belly benedict, crabcake benedict, chicken fried steak (yeah, they call that 1/2) and this little deviled egg appetizer that is topped with a fried oyster.  Not pictured were Carly’s red velvet pancakes and Dillon’s frosted flake french toast but I promise they cleaned their plates.  We dropped Riley at the airport and he has safely arrived in Florida!  Spring training starts tomorrow!

I finished off the weekend cooking up the eggroll in a bowl and editing this girls fairy tale.  Oh I how hope she can stay full of hopes and dreams!   I just love how full of life this girl is.

Last week of school before spring break!  Let’s do this!
