The Queen’s Chronicles 03.08.21

Good morning! I hope this Monday morning finds you rested and ready for the week ahead. We fell into bed before 9pm last night and it didn’t take long to fall into a sound sleep. After a busy weekend on the road I was definitely tuckered out. Here’s a little view through the Queen’s Chronicles of our weekend.

Covid Vaccine

On Friday my mom was scheduled for her second Covid-19 vaccine. I first drove to Houston to watch Rice play Sam Houston State at Minute Maid before making the drive to pick up my mom in Wharton and then driving back to Houston where she received here vaccine. We are very thankful she has had zero reaction! She received the Pfizer vaccine in case yoou are wondering.

Hinzes Country Kitchen

We celebrated with dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in my hometown and I’m not going to lie, it was amazing.

Saturday we were back at Minute Maid for the second game of the weekend. It is always fun to play in a big stadium and having the roof open was an added bonus.

Shriners Classic

As a freshman, we really didn’t expect to see Dillon come in on Saturday but in the top of the 6th I noticed that lanky frame running in from left field and was so excited for him. He only pitched on inning but had one walk, one hit and 2 Ks with no runs given up so it was a success!

I’m still working on replacing my big DSLR camera so I was a little sad I couldn’t take any pictures but was thrilled when Dillon shared these with me!

All last week pictures of Riley pitching in this same tournament 7 years ago had been popping up on my Timehop.

Spring Training

Meanwhile in West Palm Beach, our sweet Haisley Grace was making her first appearance at spring training! Of course she was a quick fan favorite. They have not even been gone a full 2 weeks but it feels like forever!

Carly had dress rehearsal for dance from noon to 5:30 so after being lazy and enjoying the quiet for a bit, Keith and I decided we better go grocery shopping. It was a picture perfect spring day and Keith & I could not resist picking up some crawfish at HEB on our grocery shopping trip! Is this what empty next life will be like?

And here we are, coming up on the week our lives came to a screeching hault a year ago. I’ve been doing alot of thinking back to how oblivious I was to the seriousness of it all. I’ve laughed multiple times to myself as I think about how positive we were doing puzzles, sending cards, painting the sidewalk, ordering cookies to decorate from local vendors with no clue how long it was going to go on. Never in my wildest dreams did I foresee a year of living in a pandemic not to mention all the other things that have happened.

Over the weekend I listened to a podcast by Laura Tremaine – 10 Questions to Mark One Year of the Pandemic and decided it would be a healing exercise to journal the answers to these prompts. Anyone want to join me? I will be answering these questions next Monday here on the blog but am also thinking of sharing here and there on Instagram as well.

Wishing you all a super week ahead! The weather here in Texas is picture perfect for spring and I plan to enjoy it as much as possible.
