Sweet 16

· ·

For those of you who are new around here, as well as those of you who {thankfully} come back every day to see what I’m up to, I thought it would be fun to start 2016 with a little introduction and a few fun facts about me!

One

My name is Shelly and I am a 46 year old mom of 4 working outside the home as a Senior Financial Analyst.  I have two “bigs” and two “littles” and they are pretty much my proudest accomplishments!  My hubby of 14 years still thinks I’m his dream girl which makes me giddy.

Two

I love blogging!  This is my fun, creative space and it has become an outlet for my thoughts, a diary of our family happenings and a place for me to share one of my favorite things…my closet!  I love “meeting” new people and following others who inspire me.

Three

At first glance you might think I’ve got it all together, but a closer look will tell you I fail often but praise Jesus for his grace!  My younger self was still ruled by my type A personality and things were much more rigid and sometimes not nearly as joyful in my daily life. Learning to let go of the little things has been a huge key to finding my joy!

Four

Mexican food….it’s my favorite.  I could eat chips & salsa every..single..day and have been known to pretty much make anything into a taco.

Five

I don’t really get the heebie jeebiez about much but crossing bridges over water really freaks me out!

Six

I  have a tatoo on my hip which I have never regretted.  It is a quarter sun with a face and a wave is reaching out in front.  There may have been a few times when in a crouched position my tattoo has peeped out (in the privacy of home of course) and my two boys think it’s hilarious to say “look the sun and moon are out at the same time”.  They are all mine!

Seven

I always, always make a wish if I look at a digital clock and it reads 11:11..always.  This will forever remind me of one of my high school besties, Lorri, and I know she still does the exact same.

Eight

Not to sound too vain, but I love watching myself in the mirror.  Like not necessarily to admire myself but I love seeing what my expressions look like when I’m talking or fussing or eating. True story, my grandfather had a large buffet mirror moved to another room because I would watch myself the entire time we were at Sunday dinner.

Nine

Any of my friends (and some acquaintances) will tell you I use the word hooker much too loosely but always with love.

Ten

Smoking is something I use to do a lot (and loved alot) and every once in awhile I will still partake. I’m glad I quit when they were like $1.50/pack…holy heck that’s like 3 pairs of shoes a month I would have to give up at the price these days.

Eleven

Truth be told my fear is something will happen to me on a day when my house is a complete wreck!  You know, the fridge is full of week old leftovers and stuff the kids have spilled, panties on the floor, dirty dishes in the sink, 5 loads of unfolded laundry and that’s the day your mom shows up unannounced right? (for real that just happened today!)  When the ebola scare was going on I was not the least bit worried about contracting ebola but all I could think about was how they took over those peoples houses and oh my gosh they had already been sick so I’m sure they hadn’t been picking up!!  The thought made me cringe.

Twelve

Listening is not my strong suit.  I try really, really hard to listen to others and it is something I have really tried to do better but truly I love hearing myself talk.

Thirteen

I am the queen of offering unsolicited advice in the grocery store, doctors office, at work and I love it.  I am always giving people tips and product reviews they could give a rats ass about! But ask me directly for some advice about a specific topic and I will freeze up like a clam and fake an illness.

Fourteen

I have a love/hate relationship with fitness.  I absolutely love pretty much any type of physical activity and it gives me a necessary high to deal with stress and anxiety but I hate making time for it! If I have something more appealing come up I will almost always drop my workout so having friends to work out with is a must.

Fifteen

Spreadsheets excite me!!  I will put pretty much put anything into a spreadsheet even weekly fashion challenges. The possibilities are endless.

Sixteen

I have no regrets but sometimes wish I could be the me I am today and go back to my twenties for just a bit.  I think about that girl and there is so much she missed out on!  I’m not even sure I would be friends with her if I met her today.  Thank goodness for all the days and years of “in betweens” bringing me to where I am now; blessed to be me and have the people I love loving me back!

I would love to know….is there anything you have been dying to ask?  I may just make this a fun little series throughout 2016.
