Red, White & Blue!

Are you ready to celebrate the 4th of July this week? Well, I’ve partnered with my blog besties to create a linkup to share all your red, white & blue inspiration this week! So grab your favorite post and browse the othes if you are like me and pulling your 4th of July together at the last minute.

I’m showing off a little red, white and blue home decor today. I’m proud to say I only grabbed one new item and everything else was already on hand. Sometimes I just like to move things around the house a bit from prior years and I love how it turned out.

One of the easiest things to use for decorations are the little packs of flags found in the Target dollar spot. I like to keep play sand on hand to use in mason jars or other glass vases and the flags stand up perfectly.

The burlap bunting is one of my proudest Pinterest projects! I’m not super crafty but this one was super easy to create and I seriously have had it for probably 6 years so I have gotten my moneys worth. You an find the tutorial here!

I love our little breakfast nook since having the built in added and it’s one of my favorite places to add seasonal decor. I see this space first thing when I walk into the house each day and it makes me happy for it to look festive.

Adding some touches to a tiered tray and swapping a red pillow for the usual yellow worked perfectly. Of course as a baseball family, we feel they are pretty all american and they make an easy prop!

One of my favorite finds on clearance a few years back were the fun red, white and blue party toothpicks. I’ve used the play sand in red bowls I aleady had on hand to add just a little flare to the tray.

The one new purchase I added this year came from Walmart! It just happened to be right in my line of sight as I headed in to purchase some pantry organization containers and for under $10 it was the perfect little touch for our mantel.

Recently I ordered a few items from the new Gibson X Hi Sugarplum collection and how adorable would this ensemble be for a little red, white and blue on Independence day? Sadly these shorts just do not work well for my shape but the top I’m still contemplating! I love the cut.

One of my very favorite things to pull together for 4th of July if there are kids present is this red, white and blue drink! The secret is to choose a red, white and blue drink with varying sugar content. The one with the highest sugar content goes on bottom and then work your way up.

If I remember correctly, the drinks which worked well for us included blue Gatorade (or powerade), SOBE pina colada and Hawaian Punch. Be sure to do a quick check of the label for sugar content to be assured they are enough different.

The other tip is to be sure to fill the glass full of ice and pour slowly over the ice as pouring too quickly will cause the colors to mix.  Trust me if I can do this anyone can do this!  You will win points with the kids for this one!

Now it’s your turn to share your Red, White and Blue inspiration!
