The Queen’s Chronicles – San Antonio Weekend

San Antonio is one of my favorite places in Texas to visit.  Since we were there for a baseball tournament there was not a ton of time for sightseeing but we did find one killer burger joint and took a little time to explore.  If you love a great history lesson you should definitely make your way to San Antonio.  The city is rich with Texas history, architectural history and of course there is Mexican food on every corner!  Here’s a look at our weekend!

The tourney Dillon was playing in included so many teams and the playing fields were spread out all over town at various high schools, parks and universities.  We opted to stay in the Northwest part of town at  Hyatt Place and the accommodations as well as the free breakfast were fantastic.  If you are traveling with teens, the Hyatt Place rooms offer a sectional type pull out sofa and a little divider wall which gives everyone a little more space.  So many options each day for breakfast to serve a healthy diet or those teens and younger kids.  This hotel is located near tons of restaurants and within just a few miles of The Shops of La Cantera.

I was even able to stay on track eating somewhat healthy with plenty of protein.  The kids opted for waffles, cereal and powdered donuts.  #enjoythatmatabolismfriends

Keith and I did a little tag teaming this week.  Dillon played 2 games on Thursday so he and Keith headed out early that morning and Carly and I did not head that way until I finished the day at work.  Friday Keith worked and I took on baseball duty.

I was even able to hook up for dinner with one of my besties from high school.  This girl has always been super fit and able to pull together an outfit from anywhere no matter the cost.  I totally remember how envious I always was of her ability to shop the sales racks and look way cuter than I was looking shopping full price!

All Saturdays should start this way right?  Dillon did not play until 1:50 on Saturday which left us up early and looking for something everyone could enjoy.

Top Golf meets the requirements for our family. We had so much fun laughing at how awful we really are at golf but celebrating when we thought we were really improving!  For the record, I won game one and Dillon and I won the team round.

Not the greatest picture (seriously need the new iPhone like yesterday!) but I just love this guy so much.  I suck at being relaxed at home and typically am a little too much on task and spend alot of time reminding every one else they should be too.  When we get away from home I can definitely relax a little and I enjoy loving up on him.  #dimplesfordays

One of my good friends recommend Tycoon Flats for our Saturday lunch and it did not disappoint!  I chose my burger sans bun and it was Ah-Mazing!!  I would have never thought to combine grilled pineapple and bacon on a burger!  So dang good and it was so filling I didn’t even touch the salad.

My man had this burger which was stuffed with blue cheese and bacon! He’s obviously not joining me on the healthy eating challenge.  Ha!

Little miss settled for a regular flats burger which was a basic burger but with their special sauce and she’s crazy over some sweet potato fries!  This place was definitely spreading good vibes!

After a big break in games this guy took the hill for their last game of the weekend.  I love watching him gain confidence on the mound and work through frustrations.  He had  few bumps but overall had a really great outing!  #proudmom

Across town the Hooks were playing too!  Riley pitched in Corpus on Friday night so we knew he wouldn’t come in this weekend. His high school coach and his family were at the game and took this sweet picture of Riley and Logan after.  Logan was probably about 2 years old when Riley first started playing varsity ball and by the time he graduated Logan was a big fan.  We headed to grab Riley for a super late dinner at BJ’s Brewhouse and finally made it back to our hotel at 1:30am!

Keith had some work to do and headed home early with Dillon which left some free time for Carly Jo and I to do a little sightseeing.

As many times as we have been to SA, I’ve never taken her on the river cruise so we went for a little boat ride tour.

I personally have been on the boat many times but don’t ever remember hearing the story of the Hilton Palacio Del Rio hotel.  All of these rooms were put together off site, down to the furnishings, and then brought in and stacked with a crane.  H.B. Zachry (who is an Aggie and has a building named after him on campus) was the contractor and it only took them 202 working days to build. That is super crazy and was way ahead of his time!

Another cool building  which looks like it is just a free standing wall.  I love stuff like this!

The whole reason the river walk was created was to make sure the downtown area never flooded again after a really bad flood devastated the city.  This building was built by a businessman to house his office to show people there was nothing to be afraid of.

I just love her adventurous spirit so!

We tied up our tour and hurried back to the car so we could head on over to watch the Hooks play!

A little pre-game silliness!

And snowcones because it was hot as heck!

This girl thinks Riley is the most hilarious thing!  I’m so impressed lately without her knowledge of the game too.  She’s obviously been paying attention!

One of my favorite things is to see Riley signing books for fans.  You would be surprised at the books put together with pictures of so many players that these fans have.

Not the greatest picture through my dirty car window but the sunset on our way home was beautiful.  Another full weekend complete!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend too!
