The Queen’s Chronicles – Insta Memories

Unless you are totally under a rock, you are aware our blessed state of Texas is struggling right now.  The news of the devastation from Hurricane Harvey is hard to watch.  The videos and pictures of people coming together in crisis to save one another provides so much hope.  At a time when we have been shown so much hate across this country, these pictures are a testament our country is still full of much love too.

Thanks to all of you who have asked about our safety here.  We have had tons of rain in College Station but no real flooding to speak of.  Riley was evacuated with the Hooks from Corpus Christi on Thursday evening to San Antonio and has been enjoying queso and chips ever since.  My mom happened to already be at my house and we convinced her to stay.  Oh, and my ex-husband is on one of the cruise ships that couldn’t make it into port in Galveston!  My little hometown of Wharton received a ton of rain and is now bracing for a huge flood as the Colorado river crests this week.  Minor flooding begins at 34 feet and it is currently projected to reach 50 feet and the record ever is 51.9 feet so this is something most in the area have never experienced.  From projections I’ve seen my brother, Mamaw and my mom’s home will still be out of harms way but obviously we are watching closely.

So many prayers going up for people state wide who have been affected.  The recovery both to physical property but also mentally will be long.

We were suppose to be back to school today but our area has delayed the start until tomorrow so we are holding tight and enjoying a few extra snuggles. Here is a look at how we tied up summer!

We got last week started with no rain and a productive two hours assisting new Aggie students move into their dorm rooms.  The first year I did this I was pregnant with Dillon and it will be a blink before I’m moving him into his own dorm.

The organization we volunteer with encourages us to log 10 hours during the summer so we really tried to knock some hours off the list.  On Tuesday we volunteered sorting food at our local food bank.

Wednesday we headed about 30 miles away to a little food pantry with a huge mission and helped unload and stock their pantry.

I’ve really been trying to hit 10K steps per day and Dutch is still on the fence regarding his thoughts.  Some days he is happy to go and some days he has balked about a block in and I’ve had to take him back home!  After being cooped up I’m betting he will be looking forward to a walk soon.

Thursday I headed for my annual physical and if you didn’t see my insta-stories I am a huge proponent of preventative care.  Friday I took the day off and spent the afternoon with Katy at the spa.  I have never, ever treated myself this way and I left wondering why the heck not.  I had a pedicure, a facial and a 60 minute massage which totally left me feeling relaxed and ready to face being rained in all weekend.

I stopped by Kroger on my way home for necessities!  Don’t judge, my mom + my kids+Keith 24/7 all weekend will be a lot for my mental capacity.

This guy is so happy Nana is visiting because she gives him nonstop treats!
My friends were asking about Riley so I had to screen shot his snaps.  I’m thinking he will make it through Hurricane Harvey.

I made a mexicany casserole on Saturday night so I decided this skinny margarita recipe was worth a shot (or two).

Just when I thought he was safe I received this. HAHAHAHA….this kid is too much sometimes y’all.

Holly and I swapped kids on Sunday and the girls came with me!  They talked me into getting supplies to make slime despite the weather.  It was worth it!
It has been ages since I’ve made my favorite lasagna but decided Sunday was the day!  It was the perfect comfort food!

That was our weekend in an instant!  Today I’m going to work on a little scrapbooking (I hope) and catch up on a little blogging.
