The Queen’s Chronicles – Catching Up

Welcome to the Queen’s Chronicles where I share a little about what’s been going on around here!

It is hard for me to believe we are already on week 4 of school as the month has just flown by in a flash.  It seems like we have been go, go, go since day one and we are getting into our groove.  So what have we been up to since my last photo dump?  Here’s a little update.

These two started back to school a day late after a little delay from Hurricane Harvey.  I think we will all remember the start of this year.

We initially planned a big family weekend at the beach in Port Aransas for Labor Day weekend but for obvious reasons that did not happen.  We instead settled for a quick drive to Corpus Christi to watch this kid in his final outing of the season.  Riley finished on a super hot streak and we are super excited he has been invited to fall league in Arizona.  I’m currently working on a trip for Keith & I to go visit so equally excited about that!

We spent the weekend in Wharton doing a little cooking and supporting my sister-in-laws family.  She ended up with a brother, 3 uncles and 2 cousins all flooded so she has been doing lots of laundry while housing extra peeps.  The mosquitos are awful and she took this picture for reference to the size.  I’ve never seen mosquitoes so big!

Dillon asked this cutie to homecoming and Momma couldn’t be more excited!  He chose to opt out of homecoming freshman year so this will be my first chance to see him off on a formal date!

While we were away Labor Day weekend, Carly Jo was lucky enough to score a weekend stay with my friend Holly.  It was an all girls weekend and she took them to Kyle Field.

Maybe we will see these girls link up at a home game just like this in college some day!

She made sure they had all the necessities (chips, queso and guac) for the perfect living room tailgate and made sure they were becoming “real” women!

On Monday they were able to take a tour of the Vet School and I was super impressed by how impressed Carly Jo was about this!

Katy and I had the chance to hear Kristin Schell speak at a women’s event and if you haven’t heard her story of the Turquoise Table you should take a minute to check it out.  Building community with others before the storm builds trust and unity so we can stand together through all the storms in life.  My mind is racing with ideas of how to act on this concept!

Never underestimate the power of your community!  Sometimes I feel like I am just one little spec and cannot make a difference but I decided to take a chance and ask for donations for Wharton via my facebook page.  My friends responded in a big way and I was able to load up my car with lots of supplies including $350 in brand new underwear and socks.  This made me so happy!

And I loved sharing with this girl as we loaded up and headed to drop off in Wharton.

I’ll be honest, I really had not been on Facebook much in a really long time but when all the flooding began it was the most up to date way to actually see the impact.  Well, while I was in Wharton on Saturday I saw that a group from my high school class and the one before me was getting together on Sunday to cook and provide meals for local residents and I was so excited to see some familiar faces and serve with them.

This one is working on getting all his time behind the wheel and he is actually becoming a really good driver.  I can hardly wait to have a few less stops to make every day.

We were up early on Saturday for 2 baseball games in Katy and once we returned home I settled in with this book and ended up taking a 3 hour nap!  It was amazing.

Riley came to town on Sunday and I was able to have an afternoon with my boys listening to some live music.  I always forget how much I love it.

I’m a pretty lucky girl I think! These two are so different but I’ve really enjoyed seeing them become friends as Dillon has gotten older.

And that’s our life in an instant!  My big camera has been dormant and we have just been surviving the back to school rush.  Our little miss is turning 12 this week though so I better brush up on my camera skills!

Wishing you all a beautiful week!
