National Margarita Day

·
So really my first question is who do I talk to about getting this national day moved to a more appropriate day of the week?!!  Margarita day on a Monday in the middle of February just hardly seems right.

But who am I to miss out on a celebration?!!

I love a good margarita but truly the calories are often just not something I’m willing to indulge in.  Regardless there are some ways to make it more calorie friendly without losing all the taste.
Grab yourself some limes, an orange and some good tequila.  I like a good silver or clear tequila over the gold and by good I mean not the kind you bought in college!   I like salt on my glass and  you can splurge on the actual cute salt in the little sombrero or you can just pour some course sea salt on a plate.  To add a little bit of sweet without all the calories of a sugary mix, grab some agave nectar usually found on the baking aisle.
This is not an exact science but rather a trial and error mix depending on how strong you like your drinks.  I’m more about making one and sipping it for a bit rather than downing it like I do at the restaurant so here is my mix.
2 shots tequila
2 large limes squeezed
1 orange squeezed
one good squeeze agave nectar
Shake in shaker with ice and pour
I rub a lime around the rim of the glass and then roll in salt because I’m kind of a saltaholic.
This is the perfect little cocktail to unwind at the end of the day…even on Monday.
But beware if your gym just happens to be next door to the liquor store.  True story one of my besties totally saw me pull up and thought I was coming to dance class only to walk in and bust me tequila in hand!  Oops!
Happy Margarita Day!
