2014 Christmas Roundup

· ·
After a very relaxing Christmas Day at home, we packed up and headed to my hometown on the 26th to celebrate with my side of the family….all of us including Dutch Buddy who evidently was not very trusting of my driving!
My family is super small.  My mom is an only child and my dad passed away 10 years ago and sadly both his siblings have already passed as well.  We have no first cousins so it is literally my mom, brother and my grandmother remaining but my brother and I have done our part to try and make sure the family gatherings are fun by adding 7 kids between the two of us.  We both have Bigs and Littles so the grandkids range in age from 3 to 24 and while we don’t get together very often, we always have a super time and lots of laughs.
And tamales….we always, always have tamales! Good gracious I really lost count as to how many I really ate.  This is the only time of the year I have them and I love, love, love them!
We eat and open presents and then the littles run around while the adults tell lots of fun stories and toast to good times.
Saturday was rainy and dreary and I was so excited my mom read my wish list lets me do her shopping for her as I knew exactly the #1 gift on my list…the Blardigan!  I’m late to this party and I just have to say if you are still holding out give in NOW.  It really is as amazing as reviewed and I have barely taken it off! Find your perfect Blardigan here!
Another favorite gift was a new hair dryer…for real.  I am never able to dry my hair straight and get the same smooth look I get when my stylist fixes my hair and she recommended this hair dryer.  Oh my goodness….actually my be a life changer for me.  You just can’t beat good hair.
Once I drug myself away from the Blardigan, I spent the afternoon with my Mamaw.  If you have followed along I’m sure you already know she is 88 but still loves to shop!  It was a rainy day but once the rain stopped we headed straight to Palais Royal…..that is the option in my hometown.  She found some goodies and I took her to dinner at a local diner before we picked up my niece and Carly Jo for a little Christmas light viewing.  The courthouse is typically so beautiful but it looks like I missed out….either they already started taking down the decorations or there are some lights out!
And then I took the girls to Buc-ees after dropping Mamaw off for the night.  I mean a little more sugar couldn’t hurt anything at this point right? Icees all the way around!  Carly is sporting her new cowgirl boots!
Today the girls headed to Houston to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular after a quick stop at Cheesecake Factory for lunch.  Last year I saw this show at Radio City Music Hall so it definitely brought back memories.  I was excited to share with my favorite girls.
And finally I’m wrapping up Christmas by the tree in the peace and quiet watching one of my fave adult Christmas movies.  Goodness I love this movie and especially the part where Hugh dances to Jump for my Love!  Perfect way to end my holidays.
Tomorrow will be all about taking down my decorations which always makes me a little sad.  I typically do not take down until after the new year but I have a few projects I would like to get done this week while I’m off and I really need everything packed up and out of my way.
Merry Christmas to all….and to all a good night!
