Friday Favorites – Thanks and Giving

Friday Favorites

One – This week giving thanks has been on our minds and my friend Holly has the perfect challenge to get us moving int he right direction.  You can read about #30DaysofThanksandGiving and see some of her great ideas here.  This doesn’t have to be hard or costly it’s all about being thankful and loving on others.  I love getting my kids involved and they actually made brownies from scratch….meaning the box…..to take to two of our neighors one night this week.  This is just to show you it was NOT fancy.  As much as I would have loved to make the packaging and presentation a little prettier, if I’m being honest I know it will never get done.  Plus…if someone shows up at my door with brownies fresh from the oven the last thing I’m noticing is what they are wrapped in!  Wrap them in love…that’s the most important.
Two – I found these super cute notecards at TJ Maxx this past week and had to have them.  I’m always searching for cards to have on hand that work for a quick note to a friend.  This past month I received so many cards in the mail for my birthday with handwritten notes and I LOVED it.  Can’t wait to use these to give thanks for some special friends in my life this month.  The best part….they were on sale for $3.50 per box!
Three – I popped into Old Navy yesterday to make a quick return and of course as I walked in this cute red coat with a 50% off sign just happened to be the first thing I saw.  Seriously y’all, this coat is adorable and fit perfectly.  The weight is just perfect for Texas and well I just couldn’t leave without it for that price.  So I’m thankful that it has cooled off enough here that I was actually in the mood for a new coat!

Four – I found this graphic on Pinterest yesterday and had a little laugh to myself.  I definitely love food and battle every day with my food choices.  One of my good friends always says “I think we just taste the food more than other people”.  Ha!  Maybe that’s the problem.  Regardless I saw this and decided sharing some food with my coworkers this morning at staff meeting would be a great treat.  I whipped up Shay’s breakfast casserole, which you can find the recipe for here, to share and show my thanks for being part of such a great team.
Five – my readers!!  I posted from the heart in yesterdays blogpost (read here if interested) and I cannot tell you how much the comments I received on the blog, through text, instagram or facebook touched me.  You guys are the best and totally made my day.  It’s support and encouragement from friends that make me want to do a better job “weaving my own web”.
Hope you all have a super weekend!  Looks to be a beautiful one here in Texas.  Tomorrow I will be running a 10 miler and will be very thankful that I am one step closer to the 1/2 marathon I signed up for when I was out of my mind feeling energetic.
TGIF!
