Friday Favorites – It’s All About that Base….Ball

· ·
We are 13 weeks into the college baseball season and I could not start my Friday Favorites without a shout out to the TCU Horned Frogs!

{ONE}

Baseball
The Horned Frogs beat OU on Thursday night 5-4 to clinch the 2015 Big XII title!  Last year they finished second and went on to win the Big XII tournament but they were still hungry for the outright title.  Way to go boys!

{TWO}

Riley closed the 9th inning and earned his 13th save of the year!  Of course in true Riley fashion he kept his momma on pins and needles for the 9th!  Last year some of his teammates began referring to him as the Dump Truck.

{THREE}

As part of their Third Strike series, Baseball America ran this article which featured Riley this week.  When I read these articles it is still just so unbelievable.  This kid really has treated this like his job for so long and put in so much work to get where he is today.  I’m just so proud of him.

Today I will be attending a workshop where Melanie Shankle will be the keynote speaker.  What does Melanie have to do with baseball you ask?  Well if you haven’t read her new book Nobody’s Cuter Than You it should be top on your list and you will then know that while at Texas A&M as a student, Melanie was a Diamond Darling and she still loves some Aggie Baseball.  I am just hoping I don’t embarrass myself with excitement over seeing her in person!

The MLB draft is just around the corner and I would lie if I said I don’t ever think about it.  If you have been around for awhile you may have read this post regarding some of my feelings 3 years ago as the draft was approaching.  It is definitely a little different this time but one thing for sure, for this boy I have prayed.  I continue to pray that God’s will for him will play out as it should and the right people will come forth to influence him.  I pray that he continues to enjoy one game at a time and soak up every moment.  I pray he continues to give 100% and remembers what a gift he has been given.  Looking back over his baseball life from 6th grade forward it is so easy to see now how he grew during times of adversity and always ended up a little stronger afterwards.  It was hard to see at the time but now I see God’s hand working in it all.
If you have made it to the end of this post I thank you so much for sticking with me through yet another baseball post!
Wishing you all a great weekend!  Those of you with sunshine, please send some our way!
