It’s All Enough – Word of the Year

· ·

I know, I know, it’s already January 9th and I’m just getting my thoughts together to share my word of the year!  Believe me, it’s not because it was hard to decide; oh no, I decided on my word about December 9th when the holidays were really heating up and I was about to lose my mind a bit.  It’s my nature to want to “do it all” and “be all the things” to “all the people” and even though I know it’s not possible my heart still longs to fulfill this desire I have to do too much!

Here’s the thing, every day I am blessed.  Whether it is through the people I share my life with or the stranger on the street or the grace of Jesus, every single day I am blessed.  All the “things” working me up all the time are just things and instead of sitting around feeding myself the lie that it’s all too much I need to face the truth it is all ENOUGH!

Enough - Word of the Year

So there you go, my word for 2018 is enough!  So let’s break it down a little shall we?

In 2018 I want to recognize enough when I see it!

I hope to have enough….

  • dates with my husband to stay connected
  • laughs with all my kids together but also enough one on one time with each to really gage their hearts.
  • sweet time with friends sharing our good, bad and ugly
  • focus to listen intently to others
  • food to fuel my body; not enough to fuel the free world!
  • exercise to make me aware I’m truly alive!
  • quiet time fueling my soul

I hope to recognize I have more than enough….

  • time as long as I manage it well
  • clothes if I choose wisely and only choose pieces I love
  • space when it is organized and free of clutter
  • love if I choose to receive it!
  • freedom to choose when to say yes and when to say no!
  • compassion towards others.
  • resources in my toolbox

I hope I learn enough is enough when it comes to….

  • whining over things I cannot control
  • feeling sorry for myself
  • making excuses
  • taking care of me!

And I really, really hope I continue to remember I am enough! Every day no matter whether the dishes and laundry are done, whether I’ve healed hearts or lost my shiz, I hope I remember God’s grace is sufficient and it is enough to make me whole!

I chose this picture because, you see, this is how I want people to see me even though it is rarely the portrait those closest to me typically see reminding me someone is always watching.  Me, smiling at the camera controlled totally with my remote control.  Enough!  I hope in 2018 I learn the most to smile and appreciate even those moments I don’t have complete control over.

Do you have a word of the year as your focus or do you go the resolution route?  I’m hoping I use this word to develop some great goals to guide me along the way.

Happy 2018!  Wishing you all the best year.
