The Queen’s Chronicles – Week 36

·
Ahh….sweet September!  Everywhere you turn there are signs of fall and I’m hopeful cooler temps will be quick to follow.  Thus far September has been hot & humid.  Here is a little of what we have been up to this week.
If you were following along last week, you know we had a fun {weekend getaway} with some fairly successful fishing.  I broiled up the redfish on Monday night for fish tacos.  I combined garlic, lime, chili powder and cumin with 2 Tbsp of EVOO and marinated the fish for about 20 minutes before popping in the oven.  I typically combine sour cream and the adobo sauce from a can of chipotle peppers to make a little sauce for the tacos.  So good!  I used the remaining fish with brown rice and added a few veggies for my lunches several days after.
Two trips to the orthodontist with this one this week to have new retainers made……the dog ate his!  He’s kind of on a roll lately and also managed to lose his iPhone out hunting this weekend.
This girl and I soaking up the last bit of the day on a long walk with Dutch.
I was super duper excited to finally receive the standing desk for my office!
One of my goals for September is not to forget about date night.  The first of hopefully two dates this month…check!
Friday night I was already in my “weekend clothes” when this boy came walking into my house totally unannounced.  My nephew is a senior in college at Texas Lutheran and was meeting up with friends in College Station to celebrate a birthday.  I was so thrilled that he stopped by to see me!
Saturday morning started with taking pictures of this cutie pie!
On Saturdays we wear maroon!  The Aggies were playing away this week {and got the win…WHOOP} but we still like to show our support.  We headed out to buy a new dance wardrobe for Carly!
And we had a special lunch, just the two of us, at our favorite lunch spot, Napa Flats.

She was super excited Napa Flats now has Wicki Stix for kids to play with.  When we were in Nebraska this summer she received these at one of the restaurants and had so much fun with them.

We went shopping for a bit and this happened! I’ve been burning the Vanilla Pumpkin Cheesecake mainly and my house smells yum!  I loved the little pumpkin holder too.  We grabbed a few other things from Hobby Lobby and I am hoping Keith will drag out my fall stuff from the attic while he is home today.  Boo…he is the only one who got the day off!
I baked up a spaghetti squash on Saturday night.  It has been awhile since I made one as I think I burnt myself out.  This time I rubbed a little EVOO and some spices on before cooking and it turned out so tasty.
A few meatballs, spaghetti sauce and some red pepper and I had a delicious meal.  Bonus..since the boys were off hunting and Carly won’t eat red sauce so I have my lunches packed for the next 3 days!
I did a much needed purge of Dillon’s closet and dresser.  The bag is everything he has outgrown that will be donated and the other pile is old baseball pants that are ready for the trash.  Lot’s of space in his room now so no more excuses that there is no place to put his clean clothes!
This was Riley’s shirt…he “handed down” some of his favorites last summer when he cleaned out his room and Dillon has grown so much he can now wear them.  Crazy how much these boys can remind me of each other sometimes even though I don’t think they look all that much alike. Everything Dillon was doing when we were talking tonight from his expressions to his movements to the things actually coming out of his mouth were all reminding me of Riley.
The boys had two nice hunts this weekend and that meant bacon wrapped dove for dinner.  Keith also went to the grocery score which was a bonus for me!  He wraps the dove with bacon and jalepeno and adds a little chili powder before grilling.  They were delicious!

All of our activities get rolling this week so we will see if the plans I have laid out will keep us on track!  Hope you all have a super week.
