Five on Friday – 08.14.20

Is anyone else still having those days of just outright disbelief that this is our life right now? While I have been back in my office since early May, it is like a ghost town on campus and just this week students started moving back to town and things like traffic start to feel normal. Then I hop out of my car and head to walk into a business and realize I don’t have a mask on and reality hits me in the face! Am I the only one who is still being able to forget my mask???

Anyway, in an effort to think about something else, I’ve been escaping with online shopping and I’m NOT just talking about the Nsale. I’ve shopped Target, Old Navy and of course the Nsale and packages are starting to arrive along with all the dorm essentials we are throwing together at the last minute!

I assume if you have stopped by, you are needing an escape too so I thought I’d share a little five on Friday with a few favorites!

If there ever were a time for us to give ourselves some grace on our first time doing something, now is it! We need the reminder that it’s going to be hard, it’s going to feel awkward and we are probably going to make some mistakes. When I first saw this it made me think about my first blog post and how I jumped in so excited, but goodness y’all, my blog was a hot mess 6 years ago! Looking at this now I’m thinking, on the 100th day of school, whichever option you have chosen or has been chosen for you, will we feel proud? Or will we still feel overwhelmed, stressed, afraid? I sure hope we feel a sense of accomplishment for surviving something that is hard and unprecedented!

I shared this picture on instagram last weekend. This cuff has been such a reminder to me to be present where I am in the moment. Life has been hard the last 8 months but it has also had some amazing, joyful moments. I realized more than ever I’m speaking these words to Jesus because without him with me I don’t have the strength to make it through the tough days or the ability to soak up the joy in my life.

Lazy Saturday mornings are something I realized I had missed in my life. After years of being on the road most weekends with my kids activities, the ease of a Saturday morning has been refreshing. Especially if I can enjoy it in some cute pjs! I’ve shared my love for this brand at Target before but I love how soft they are and I get so excited to add a new pattern.

Speaking of patterns, this little skirt comes in four! My favorite part of this find? It can be ordered in petite, regular and tall length. My long legs squealed with joy that I could actually wear a flirty little skirt without showing off too much at the office! Old Navy is currently having a great 30% off sale and I’ve loved the finds thus far. I’ll be sharing the items I love as they arrive on Instagram and I’d love to have you join me there too!

Get Out of Your Head

Get Out of Your Head is a book I picked up in hopes of doing an in person bible study in July but missed out. It was a little bit a of a slow starter for me, but as I’ve gotten deeper in there have been some really great nuggets. Obviously she wrote this pre-pandemic, but there is so much in this book that reminds you to refocus and remember that while we cannot control our current world, we do have a choice in our response.

We have a busy weekend ahead as we prepare for Carly to head back to school next week and we drop a kid off at college! I’m sure my emotions are going to be all over the dang place! Hope you have something less emotional planned!
